Humanity is capable of such great cruelty.

But why?

Why is hatred, intolerance, and murder easier to stand behind, than Love, compassion, and tolerance?

If there's one thing I cannot understand in this world, it's that.

I remember when the war in Iraq first started. I think It was my Junior year in high school (I'm a Junior in College now...ugh.) and on the news, like it was nothing, there was Baghdad on fire. I started crying uncontrollably, then turned the tv off, and threw the remote at it.

Have you read Eichmann in Jerusalem: The Banality of Evil, by Hannah Arendt? I think it addresses some of these same issues..

Not only have I been to your country (well, just to Budapest, for a day), I've also been to your school (UC Riverside) a few semesters ago with a professor who supervises my research. We met and talked with several researchers at UCR who were doing atmospheric spectroscopy work.. Do you like the school?
