Cups (canteens?) and Boot Camp, ish

yezida has a tasty discussion about water and receptivity (some of the things we're currently working on in training) here. The comments are very much worth reading (and aren't necessarily all work safe). I particularly liked the discussion of military training. I was reading it and thinking, "Maybe I need how-to-be-a-student boot camp", and then I ( Read more... )

You should talk more about this issue, assuming you are interested. I've had conversations with friends lately about the possibility of having people check in to ask about how my "work" is going. I think there is a lot of value in having mentors, friends and just general folks who you trust to poke at you now and again. I'd consider doing that for you. Checking in now and again to see if you are doing whatever it is you proposed to do. :)

I'd be up for talking more about it. Which part though - my daily practice or my difficulties being a student? (Wait - they're sorta the same thing. Maybe.)

The checking in thing sounds cool. I think having a witness is good - it's something I value but it's also something I can be nervous about. I'm trying to get myself to write more about my spiritual experiences. It helps me see them more clearly, can get cool feedback and comments, and could also help open the way for others. Which is a bit of a goal. :)

I like this sentence from your profile: "I'm always learning and wanting to learn. Perpetually a student, especially when I am teaching."

Here - a Crowley icon, just for fun.

Definitely!

I meant to reply to your last comment on this subject. Experiences are really important to me - they're also hard for me to put into words/not feel like I'm crazy. I'm working on this. :)

It's quite alright. Experiences are just that personal than to simply be put into words. That might be why my experiences are akin to reading a flipbook.
