Spoiled Rat Update!
: I am saddened to report that Old Man Barak left us very suddenly late last week. Less than five minutes elapsed between "wait, that's not a normal rat noise" and lights out. Spoiled Rat Update!
I have just cleaned Barak's condo. In addition to new bedding, he has a new sleeping box, previously used to contain a 12-pack of Pepsi. (Don't judge me, it's one of the few available luxuries from the Before Times.) The box is on its side, with the handle cutout in the middle, and the big opening in the end. Spoiled Rat Update!
I had to open a new box of pasta today. For those who don't know, the rats each get a little bowl of dry pasta in their cage for snacking. (The remainder of their diet is a carefully-calibrated blend of frozen vegetables, slightly squishy fruit, and whatever I find in the fridge.) It cuts down on whinging during the day.
