We are staying at the White Swan which is the kind of luxury resort hotel people stay at in the movie verisions of Danielle Steele novels. Goungzhou is a tropical city with palm trees and these wide trees with vines and something--moss?--hanging down from them. Absolutely beautiful! The hotel is on an island between the huge river and a canal.
