Hannah knows something is up

Brennan, nodding a greeting to the security guard, finds Hannah in Cam's office, right where Angela said she'd be. She feels an irrational wash of relief.

Nothing can happen to Hannah inside the Jeffersonian.

Hannah looks very intent on what she's working on. Brennan knocks lightly on the doorframe, not wishing to startle her.

"Hannah? Can I talk to you for a minute?"

Hannah looks up from the computer.

"About the creepy serial killer?"

[dr_temperance]

Brennan comes in and takes a seat.

"Yeah. About the creepy serial killer," she says.

"How much did Cam fill you in on?"

[argyle_princess]

"Howard Epps. Serial killer. Escaped. Not dead. Someone you'd worked on the case of. Not much else.

"There's a lot more on Google, though."

Hannah turns the laptop so Brennan can see the screen.

"Teenaged blondes, huh?"

She's trying very hard to be composed and casual about this. She's close to pulling it off.

Booth is Not Happy when he sees the teenager in the office instead of the administrator he was expecting.

"Where's Cam?" he asks, hands on hips. Then he pauses, looks at Hannah for a long moment and says, "Please tell me they're sending you home."

California's almost far enough away for him to feel OK about sending Hannah there.

"She's not here."

Obvious, but that's kind of all Hannah knows about Dr. Saroyan's current whereabouts.

"Sunday. As planned."

Booth's eyes narrow, and it's clear he's working up to a good looming.

"Not sooner?"

"Dr. Brennan's keeping me here. Like in this building here. Not in DC here. But in the Jeffersonian here.

"So I'm clear, this is about the creepy escaped serial killer who likes to match wits with Dr. Brennan and kill people like me, right?"

Where "this" = the looming.
