Ghost In the Machine

With all the Michael Phelps 24-7, I forgot they even did track at the Olympics. I'm not kidding.

Now, 5.5 Ghost in the Machine--

Two-ish observations and one question )

The replicators learned how to outsmart ARG weapons - that's why they couldn't just do a massive ARG burst to get rid of them in . . . whichever episode that was, but had to go with the Fran option.

And her accent is like nails down a chalkboard to me. asjdkhfah oh Sam Carter no.

Yeah, Quasar told me about the ARG thing. But how do they expect me to remember stuff that happened so long ago? I can barely remember what happened last episode?

And the accent. Why, Amanda Tapping? Why?

i'd love to see the promo you mention so i can answer that question... but i will say this (without hearing the accent) muffinlips146 could be right... our accent has changed over the last few hundred years (more migration means more accent integration) BUT... never seen a tv show that bothered with that much in the way of realism... plus, who'd know? it's not like there's any 200 year old people out there who'd complain :o)

i might go try to find a copy of the promo cause now i'm intrigued...

Er... I take it all back. What the F**K was THAT? That was just... yeah. Not. Good. I that was actually worse than Bella in Supernatural. Never thought I'd say that!

I know, seriously! At least in Angel David Boreanz didn't try to do an Irish accent. Can you imagine? (I think he did it in the flashbacks, if I'm remembering right.) But I always thought James Marsters's accent was good.

But Amanda Tapping is like a few hundred years old or something in the show(I'm unclear on the premise). Couldn't she have lost the accent by now, like Angel did?

Eeee! *scrolls through spoilers!*

Um, yeah, I actually did see the promo once and omg, Amanda sounds terrible. I mean, I'm not British but holy hell, I cringed.

I know! Maybe it'll seem better if we actually watch the show?

I KNOW! Why, Amanda, why? Couldn't she just have an American accent like Angel did?

?Oh, and British friends who have seen the Sanctuary promos they keep showing on SGA-- Does Amanda Tapping's English accent sound as ridiculous to you as it does to me?
Ha, I was talking to a friend once and mentioned that Canadians *think* they can do British accents... until they speak to an actual Brit and realize they sound nothing like the real thing. And then that friend mentioned Amanda's accent in Sanctuary and how it was really good and a period accent and everything. I just smiled and nodded but in my head I was totally thinking "No, actually Amanda's British accent is the same as mine and the same one I was *just* talking about." :P
Glad it's not just me thinking that it's bad.

Surely she could've gotten a dialect coach or something. It really sounds like she's not even trying...
