Things I need from the universe, meaning my flist, today

I need two things:

1. I didn't get any work done yesterday, even though I had time to do it. I'm facing more than one deadline, and a project that scares the living daylights out of me. I tell myself I can let the unproductive day go, but I don't really believe myself (the way I do when I'm telling myself how terrible I am for wasting time), so ( Read more... )

1. Start somewhere and it'll get done.... sometimes starting in the middle is better than trying to start at the beginning. Many times I find I don't even need the beginning.

2. Hmmm... Colorado -- Use the mountains.... variety of generic terms that may or may not be useful: foothills, rocky mountains, mile high, alpine, continental divide, mountain time zone, frontier, [pick a mountain name] like Cheyenne Mountain Clinic,

Go. Do.

Well, it's the end of the day so this might be a bit late but...

1. I read this somewhere once: a successful author described procrastination as "rich, thinking time". I think she connected it with a life-filled pond or fertile field. Something like that. But her thought was that sometimes just time not actively thinking about a writing project allowed the ideas to sort of ferment and develop, so when she did sit down more was there than she'd started with.

I've found it helpful when I think I may have wasted a day. At the very least, it helps me let go of the day gone and concentrate on the work going forward. :)

2. Hmmm... I have a horrible punny idea based on John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High". Which is not helpful. But maybe something like "Fresh Springs" or "Mountain Laurel"? (Names are hard. Sorry.)

I can't help you very much with your information request here, but have you heard of little_details? It is the kind of comm where you can post just such a question. I enjoy reading it just for the bizarre things people ask about.
