Dog Days just got a completely lovely and wonderful rec over at Stargateficrec! It's the fist time one of my stories has ever been recced over there, aside from Pegasus Tinies, which isn't a 'fic' in the traditional sense.

That was one of my favorite stories of last year! I just loved the humor and glimpse at Athosian culture, and Rodney doing his thing, and Teyla being exasperated. (For the record, my comment-shy roommate also loved it a lot and actually mentioned it a couple of times.)

stargateficrec... I'm very motivated to do some more reccing over there soon as I'm done with my current job... I have a whole bunch of fic recs I'd like to share, and they're already written up so I just have to reformat a bit.

Aw, I'm glad you (and your roommate) liked that story. I have a particular fondness for it, especially since, or probably *because*, it's for such a niche pairing.

I look forward to seeing your recs! I should probably try reccing, but it always seems hard to me to talk about stories--even my comments on fics are not really that great--I've reconciled myself to the idea that it's best to leave *some* kind of feedback as a thank you to the author, even if it's not particularly intelligent. :)

If you feel like reccing at all, you should consider it - I know the mod at ficrec is having a harder time finding enough reccers, what with the fannish drift that's always going on. (Actually I expect an influx of new Stargate fans once SGU goes on the air, but that's not gonna happen for months.)

I get that reccing anxiety though... I always have a hard time figuring out how I want to describe a story. I've recced hundreds of fics and I'm still struggling with that part. Sometimes I just pick a spiffy quote from the story to describe it. But at ficrec they want at least a short comment.

I've reconciled myself to the idea that it's best to leave *some* kind of feedback as a thank you to the author, even if it's not particularly intelligent. :)

Yeah, that's what I think. Just sometimes a fic is so good that 'I liked this' seems so inadequate and in that one case I almost ended up not commenting at all. Oh, the angst. ;)

Yay, This Is the Song, etc. is a little bit the red-headed step-child of my SGA fic (I've got one of those in Harry Potter, too), so I'm always especially glad to hear that someone likes it.

Also, I am excited about the Dog Days sequel, and I'm glad you are too--just um, you may have noticed that it takes me *forever* to write anything. :(
