I borrowed Jim Henson's The Storyteller from the library today, and introduced Audrey to it. This was a big part of my teenage years. (Channel 9, right before dinner...heehee!) Eric, Audrey and I were naming movies and TV shows we loved while growing up and I asked Eric if he knew about this show -- he didn't. It actually was surprising. Maybe "The ( Read more... )

i (vaguely) remember watching The Storyteller on channel 13, which had bad reception on our tv at the time.

hmm. you know what, suddenly i'm not too sure. i do remember the nasty reception but i have an inkling that it was RPN-9. haha! it was in one of those "upper channels", yeah. wasn't it great? i really loved it. nobody else seems to know much about it, though.

I've never heard of the Storyteller, but I do remember another Jim Henson show I watched religiously. It had this film noir detective segment acted out by dog puppets called Dog City. I really dug that because I was WAY into detective and police shows as a kid. In fact, my bedtime in third grade was bumped back 30 minutes so I could watch Dragnet when they moved it on the Nick at Night lineup.

i remember that! the dog detective was called Ace Yu and there may have been some sort of running joke about his name :)

one of the stories from The Storyteller is about this hedgehog-man who saved a king and was promised the king's daughter. on the night of their marriage the daughter finds out that he actually sheds his skin and becomes a real man. the hedge-man tells her if she keeps this a secret for three nights, it will break his curse. etcetera, etc. xD the story is actually a variation of a brothers grimm folktale called Hans-My-Hedgehog.

(in conclusion, bob is a hedgehog)

yay, so i was right about where you got your subject line. Hans My Hedgehog is my favorite episode of The Storyteller.

no offense to Bob, but i think Anna Wintour would be a Siamese. though i agree Bob sort of has the Wintour personality.

I think Audrey liked the Ghostbusters cartoon when we were little. She had a Slimer doll.
