Milly flipped the thick notebook her father had given her more than one year ago. 'You are our last hope' he had said as he handed it to her.

Inside were detailed descriptions and photos of every single Britanian with a nobility title living in Area Eleven. Most of them were divorced military men, three times older than her and with several children spread around the world, the rest were the usual good looking, pampered little princes, sons of the old aristocrats that would never put their eyes on a family that had fallen in social disgrace like Ashford.

She loathed the idea, the dream of living with Lelouch inside Ashford Academy forever floating in her mind, but she knew better than that and was very aware of their situation, so she decided to comply.

But not for now.

She was still young and she could spend some time playing around. Once in a while, when her mother's casual complaining of 'kids this days, you take too long to marry!' became too obvious, she chose the worst candidate she could find on the book and made a formal appointment. After the trainwreck, they left her alone for a couple of months and she could cross another face with her big, red marker.

Milly frowned and turned the pages of the notebook over and over. She hated this. It was like buying from a shoe catalog, they all look good on the photos, but you never know if they are really going to fit.

She turned another page. The color of his hair was the first thing that called her attention, but then she noticed the dishveled look of the man and the mess of steel and wire behind him. This was a casual photo, completely different from the expensive studio photos most of the others had.

She smiled and dialed the phone number of her next victim.

---

The first encounted had been a disaster.

The bad kind of disaster. Meaning that Earl Asplund had asked Milly in less than five minutes after the formal meeting had begun to call him by his first time, he had a silly voice that apparently got in her mother's nerves, he had showed up half and hour late to the appointmente, shoved from a car by a woman that looked too familiar with him, and he had asked more questions about the familie's well known, short but disastrous history on Knightmare Frame bussiness than anything else.

From Milly's point of view he was the perfect date; horribly behaved and completely hated by her parents.

The real disaster was that she kinda liked him. Looking at the photo of the notebook, and re-readig his profile, she coudln't figure out why somone like him had accepted the appointment. The designs of the original Ganymede he had asked about three times during the reunion? Not probable, who would marry a girl over that?

---

Shrilly voice, weird appearance and bad manners aside, his father had almost begged her to marry him (Only, not really, he had made in his 'I don't really care' way of his that meant it was really important).

There was a second formal appointment. There was no mistaking it, he wasn't trying to pretend anything, he was just himself, still half and hour late and still informal in his way of speaking.

During the next week, Milly secretly called him during school hours.

"I think you have no real interest in this." She had said gravely. If only he could see her smile.
"I do!" he said with his silly, not worried, voice.
"Then, what about a deal?"
"Hmmm?"
"Let's fomalize this."
"Sure."
She didn't think he would agree so fast. She'd have to get a bit more demanding.
"But only that, I will not marry anyone until I've spent enough time with him. So you have to date me properly and..."
"Ah, now I see a problem there." He interrupted her. "I have my priorities already set, you know?."
"Excuse me? Are you implying your work is more important than me?"
"You arrived at last, you have to wait you turn." He said in his sing-sang tone.
And all her pretending to be a proper lady pretensions crashed, she laughed out loud.
"Oh, don't worry about me, I'll gladly wait in the line." and she hung up.
She kept on laughing for a while, the guy was seriously something.

A week later (and a permission for Suzaku to take Arthur with himself whenever he felt like it in exchange of information) she had added more than 3 pages to the information in the notebook. Lloyd worked directly under the 2nd Prince of Britannia in a special, hand-picked tech design team. He had caked a little fortune from years of 24/7 work, apparently not spending his salary it at all. He was an only son and his last relative had died some years ago, leaving him a considerable inheritance. He liked pudding and Knightmares, and had absolutely no interest in anything else.

--

Lloyd's busy schedule had moved their first date alone many times. The first one was three full months after formalizing the marriage with her parents.

Date could not possibly be the word for that. They wandered Ashford Academy for a while with her on the lead. Milly opened the door of one of the whorehouses. Inside awaited something covered with a huge blanket.

His calm expression changed instantly to an exited one. "Is that what it think it is?"

"I'm sure it is."

He moved the blanked slowly, commenting incomprehensible technical babble at every single aspect of the old, dusty Kightmare.

Milly just stood at the side, smiling. "I can't believe you are marring me just for this."

"Oh, I would marry you for a photo for this!"

"Figures.

--

Six months later there was another date. To his lab. And two months after that they met in the school festival. And a week later, a phone call.

"We have to leave immediately."
"Where are you...?"
"The mainland."
"Why didn't he call, Miss Cecille?"
"He is doing urgent repairs on the Lancelot."
"Meaning, he didn't even think of calling me before traveling hundreds of miles away. Figures."

Hundreds and hundreds of miles
