this story is to die for! I knew I'd love it and so far you've definitely delivered :) Who was he talking to on the phone? Daph, Brian, his agent, someone new? can't wait for the rest!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. [happy dance] The phone call question is answered in the next chapter, actually! My second beta just had her computer die on her, but hopefully I'll have something ready to go in a week or so.
I haven't even heard of this Shelter film but yet again, I'm completely not bothered by not knowing one of the fandoms :) It's still a great read and I love having the characters I know and love thrown into new situations and watching them with new people. I love your portrayal of Justin as kind of aloof and jaded, rather similar to Brian at that age. It would make sense since Brian had an extremely strong influence on Justin in his formative years. I wonder how will he and Brian cross paths in freaking California? And I'm very excited about meeting Zach's partner, Shaun :)
All in all, great read - as always. And I love the longer chapters! I agree that it would be easier to read on AO3, thought, even though I don'r mind LJ that much.
Shelter is a warm fuzzy hug of a movie, and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes a little sweet romance!
Thank you so much for your comments and kind words! I'm really glad that you're enjoying it so far. I should warn you that while Brian's existence touches just about everything in this, there's not a lot of Brian *himself* in the story, at least as far as my current outline is concerned. This is an exploration of Justin and Zach as characters, more than anything else. With that caveat in place, I hope you will still keep reading!
Here's a link to the post on AO3, if you want to bookmark or sub to it there. I'll keep posting links here regardless.
I delfinitely will keep on reading! I'm no a, well, pairing Nazi, if you please :) I don't read very bad fics just because they focus on my favourite pairing and I don't stop reading very good fics because they don't :) As I said, I'm very interested in your portrayal of Justin and the fact that Zach is kind of similar to young Justin is intriguing. So, even if I'm no commenting every chapter, I'm sticking with you to the end :)
However it would be simply fun if Brian had some kind of a cameo appearance :) But I'll take whatever you're giving me!
You've got to figure that Justin had picked up some of Brian's mannerisms along the way - I know I've picked up some of the Spousal Unit's phrases and habits, during the years we've been together!
It seems that Zach doesn't like Justin. But then, they don't have/didn't the same lives and same "friends". So... anyway, I like that Zach & the others are that fond of Justin. It changes from his naive-kind-of-look. :D
They're pretty much coming at each other from the opposite ends of the spectrum, I think. I mean, can you imagine Zach at Babylon? His head would explode.

The part where you say that Justin put his fuck 'em face on reminded me of Brian's mannerisms.
