The part with the simulations was so much fun. Of course we already know how much weird shit the Enterprise ran into on TOS (if it sounds completely ridiculous, it's probably been a Star trek plot.) so that makes the whole thing even more appropriate.

TOS had so much weird stuff popping out of the woodwork that they should be expecting anything and everything to be out there trying to kill them making things interesting for the entire crew.

I love this.

Kirk's notes on the standard simulations was so Kirk. I was grinning at Kirk's off the wall scenarios and Spock's responses to them. That is so them too.

Kirk's reasons for creating such scenarios made sense because they were in uncharted territory, so to speak, and no standard simulations could hope to fit that. Ha, of course they would encounter giant killer robots in the end. Wouldn't want all that training to go to waste. ;)
