Hmm...Yeah, Maybe Not

You know....the more I think about it, the more that yesterday's announcement of the new WoW expansion is eating at me. It just...I dunno, it's just silly and not right, for me. In the end, i think it's far enough 'out there' that it's making me face the things about WoW that I already wasn't crazy about, and the combination is enough to make me ( Read more... )

I think you should try City again, you lose nothing by traing it and you might find it pulls you back in. There have been some recent changes that, when they were made, I thought "Made, Archamge would have enjoyed this! Sadly I know there have also been ones I thought "Yeah, he would hate this" so it goes both ways but you'll never know which side is heavier till you try it!

Just replace your WoW addiction with League of Legends :P

I've been back in Everquest 2 after a long hiatus, and something about it is scratching my mmo itch like no other one has in a long time.

If you go the console route, you've got a wonderfully huge backlog awaiting you of amazing games. If you were closer, I'd have a bunch to lend you.

Heh, and I just deleted your gamertag from my friends-list, too. ;P

"Well, he doesn't even have a 360 now, so..."

If you do go console, I'd love to see you get a 360. Of course, a lot of people I love and trust sing the praises of a PS3 as well; I haven't the foggiest which would be better for what y'all want. I know that, if you wanna do Netflix from your console, you have to pay $10/mo for Xbox gold, in addition to the $8 for Netflix streaming (or whatever your membership cost is). I believe (don't quote me on this) that PSN has only one membership level, all benefits, always free.

I'm pretty sure we're going the Xbox route. I was looking at them yesterday, pricing, etc. I wonder, if I use that old gamertag, if it'll be an oddness with the old account. Not sure how that'd work, with it using Erik's XBL account and all. If I have to make a new one, no biggie.

You'll need to remember the email and password you used to create it, and choose recover gamertag rather than create new, but otherwise, no. No oddness. The particular box you created it on won't matter at all.

Yeah, CoH is even less immersive now, in many ways. In all of the new "Incarnates" endgame content, your character's alignment faction has no relevance at all. Combat instructions flash into your face at critical moments, warning you to get clear of impending special attacks. Sure, that'll save your life, but it bugs me every single time I see a bunch of text come up in front of the action.

But then there's the new tutorial, and new early content in Atlas Park. That stuff is well done, and gives me confidence that the game isn't really heading completely into farm country.

With some of the add-ons I used in WoW, I had stuff that would help warn you during big battles of impending situations, debuffs to dispel, incoming big attacks that you didn't want to face, etc. Those were damn near mandatory, and it was handy and useful but it made things seem more like a game. I don't mind that to a huge extent, but I know what you mean, especially if it's not been happening for the bulk of the game.

Good to hear the game hasn't lost you yet. Definite bonus.
