Why are we* still observing 9-11?

By "we" I mean our government and related agencies. Even my town has some commemoration of the event. Why is that? It was 6 years ago. If memory serves, we had only one commemoration of the OKC bombing. Why was there nothing on April 19th this year? Was it the number killed? The spectacular nature of the deaths?

9-11 not the only event of that nature remebered. Pearl Harbor is still remembered.

As to why.... Americans are so freakin short sighted. History is something boring old people study. Young America finds no reason to remeber the past and mistakes or warning signs that have come before. It is too much trouble to learn from others we need to screw it up again and again each generation. Such as currently in the economics of the US. There are all the indicators for another depresion. Same situations in the stock market and housing. But is anyone paying attention? Nope just some dusty stick in the mud anylists. Man they are a drag huh?

Americans should rememeber and keep being reminded that freedom is not free. That we are not indistructable and with out learning from this and other past events we are doomed forever to repete over and over the same stupid mistakes.

Smarten up America.

I have often wondered the same thing... and found that having been near NYC when this all happened and still watching the NYC news... is that the families don't want to let go there ( ... )
