At Least I Don't Deliberately Sign Up Needlessly, then Throw Away the Information, like Some People

So, I'm told by Mother I should change my email address to something more professional, such as my name, to help get a job. When I heard this, it struck me as so obvious that I was surprised that none of my job coaches nor social workers had ever suggested. Nifty. I have to admit that I didn't realize the having multiple permanent addresses at gmail was on the level. I'll have to see about trying that.

I don't think that's actually so much of an issue, since people change their names often for legitimate but private reasons, and anyone doing a serious background check can look up what your prior alias(es) were up to. I was more thinking of the issue that you mention, as well as straightening out any confusion that arises from people using your old name (say, in letters of recommendation).
