Haha! I need a good fence next. Won't keep ground squirrels out, but it will keep the cats safe for patrol duty. Isn't this what other academics spend their days thinking about? How to coexist on land with pesky rodents? Who were all here first? ;-)

Yep, but deer are big and can really jump -- I'd complain about them too. They do taste better if one is inclined to solve the problem that way...

In this desert all the "rabbit-proof" and "rodent-proof" plants are not. They will eat things here with relish that they apparently prefer not to touch in the east and the south...
