but beautiful one, you post rarely here already. why not just cross-post it here so we can see what's up, and flit on by it if it's overly wonkish? i'd hate to miss anything you post, but i just cannot add one single solitary other blog to my reading list! :X khairete suz
I would/will cross-post and, believe me, I know that feeling of not wanting to add one more blog or social networking site to your reading list. Love ya, K
Alternately you could just put your notes on this LJ and employ a custom friends filter to make the entries only viewable to people who would be interested? It's really quite easy to set up, and then all your stuff would be in one place.
I thought about doing this. It's a good idea for some of the stuff I want to put up. Not everyone wants to read about my failures and successes at drylands agriculture...:-)
I always want to do this but don't keep up with it. I am trying it again now using my Dreamwidth account. I never know whether I want my notes to be public or what. It's confusing.
I hadn't thought about doing it until some folks began to tell me that it works really well for them. I like talking to my FL here on LiveJournal and I also like being able to lock some posts.
My main reason for setting up another account in another place is to begin to accumulate thoughts, ideas, etc., about the work I'm doing. The way I see it is that the more professional account would be like a virtual office while this is my virtual livingroom, patio, dining room table, that kind of thing.
I haven't begun to tease out the public factor. I think I'll be okay with that other spot being public. Here I need privacy to vent/blither with my FL...
It all gets so complicated. I feel the same way about my posts related to pregnancy and conception. However, at the same time, it is my journal...and, related, I enjoy reading the entries of my LJ friends even if they are mostly thematic in one or two areas. I guess you could always consider filters instead of starting a whole new journal...
You're filtering the pregnancy posts, now, aren't you? I the filtering option here. I'm going to mess with wordpress a little longer before I give up. Someone told me it is much nicer as a paid account. Maybe that's the problem...
Also, in my PhD program, people want to develop thematic accounts for discussing our research. I don't see that as fostering the kind of friendly talk that takes place on LJ. I can cross-post stuff from there over here under a filter for interested parties.
Yes, I have a boatload of pictures, just not up yet. I want to show what can be done with a desert and not all that much water. I hope. While I was a pretty productive drylands grower for a dozen years on my old property, this new place has different soil and (if I'm not crazy) there have been some noticeable regional climate changes in the years between "farms."
I think what I may do is post a link when I put new stuff over there and people can choose whether to go read/look or not each time.
