hey there, I don't know if you got my last comment but I added you as a friend-if that's all right. I thought this picture was fake for a second and had to get closer to the computer. It is so awesome! Can you tell me where this happened? -T

Hi, ezstrider, I friended you just now, meant to do it when you first posted here. Sorry - sometimes I'm too much of a procrastinator!
Isn't that rock the coolest thing? We had a week of incredible rain and flooding in southern California, and a lot of the coastal soils just let go. When the floods come, which they do some years, this kind of thing does happen. But this is about the biggest big rock I've seen in any road out here, ever.
If you know coastal southern CA, it happened in Topanga Canyon, which opens up onto the Coast Highway, in between Malibu to the north and Santa Monica to the south. The coast and coastal hills are built up more than they should be and people loose their homes because of it sometimes. Very tragically, some people lost their lives when a hillside came down further north, near Santa Barbara.
Here in the high desert a couple of homes were lost...homes that were built in the floodplain of the only river in the region. I've never understood why people build in floodplains...
