(FIC) Secrets of Fire

Sep 28, 2008 12:30

Hi, everyone! I am scurrying around trying to catch up with LJ -life, please be less hectic!- but I really wanted to thank everyone who read and liked the story I wrote for the World's Finest Summer Games. I wrote it in fits of panic because I thought I wouldn't make the deadline -and I almost didn't!- and it had some formatting problems because ( Read more... )

Eeeee, I knew this was one yours!! :D

*squees* How adorable is Timmy in this? Totally!!! *glomps him* Eeeeeee! Poor Timmy, having to put up with Batman and Superman Not Flirting. Hee. *glomps him again*

Oooooh, and I really the descriptions and contrasts between Gotham and Metropolis. It's just so perfect! *hearts Mina's writing*

*pets Bruce and Clark* Silly boys! :p They're so obsessed with each other... *shakes head*

I really liked how you showed both Bruce and Clark working on the case, while trying to juggle their game! Hee. It's really interesting seeing Clark doing... well, detective stuff, lol.

Not a sound broke the rhythmic crash of the tide against the rocky Gotham coastline, the hypnotic repetitions of the wails of the sea, like wistful sighs of a waiting lover.

*shivers* So pretty...

Behind the flames there was no sign of Kal. Only heat, burning everything away.

Meeep! My heart really ached for Bruce there, poor baby!!! And then later, as Kal came back to himself... *huggles them

Superman caught Batman mid air, ( ... )

Wee! thank you, Star! I had a lot of fun writing this story, with all the crazy running and all :P Writing Clark doing detective work -or, not exactly detective work, but.. you know.. case work! I'm not smart enough to write detectivying, lol.

Poor Tim was sick of them being lovey dovey! that was my favorite thing to write, how they both wanted each other so much, but were resisting X) I'm glad you liked the story of the two witches! it was interesting to put it together.

The ending didn't work for me until the very end, for some reason! I tweaked it and tweaked it and thought there was no way to fix it, and then.. it kind of fixed itself or something, lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

You know how happy this story made me! *more happy sighs* The fire and water imagery, the cities gazing at each other across the bay--it's not how I usually picture them, and yet it seems to intuitively right that I really want to switch my mental image of them now. Is it anti-canonical? It shouldn't be, it's so beautiful...they should always be looking at each other, maybe a glare and maybe a passionate glance, but the people of Metropolis should be able to see the lights of Gotham and vice versa.

I still love how difficult and yet simple the relationship is, fraught with uncertainties but still moving ahead, because that's what relationships do, you can't freeze them in place and not step forward when your heart moves ahead. So you jump into the void and meet the other there and negotiate on the way down.

Or, sometimes--you fly.

I don't think the cities facing each other is anti-canonical.. I mean, it's not current canon, but Wiki says they have been depicted as sister cities to NY, so... it could be? maybe? I like it, though! for some reason, sharing a bay made the story easier to write. It was an odd detail but it did affect the way I saw the boys interact ( ... )

Is she the one with the Justice Ponies? 'cause someone on LJ made a lot of Justice League pretty ponies and they were awesome. That Cthulhu one is pretty cool :)

Poor Timmy. Putting up with people who pretend no one know they are flirting is one of the most annoying things in the world. I can only imagine that living in a house of detectives leaves very little for the imagination!

I'm really glad you liked the warmth between Bruce and Clark! they were giggling behind my back all the while -or, you know, as close to giggling as they might get. Mostly just smirking. Silly muses... and Tim was the enabler of the story! he helped me get things going and give them a closure! good Timmy :)
