Quick story that jij helped me shape up after a lot of thinking about Earth 51. Thanks to Dan and Jen for the beta! *prods wombat for coda*

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to break anyone, other than Bruce, and he was already kind of broken... you must check Dan's Coda, too! It made me cry...

*clings to Bruce with you* He did what he had to, and he's not sorry! he knows the world will be better off now. In a really, really sad way. But Clark will remember him as he should!

I'm sorry! I hope you enjoyed this, even if it was kind of a mean story to tell. Still, Batman broken by grief, forced to do the ultimate sacrifices... I kind of really like the theme, and I remember cheering for him when I saw Earth 51. It's the thing all the fanboys want him to do, and has exactly the effect that makes the rest of us think he really shouldn't cross the lines... Thank you for reading, Eve! I just read Jen´s remark (and reread the fic). Sometimes you need someone to point out lines like "Now hope is frozen...". By themselves, they are so beautiful!

OMG, Mina, this was so beautiful and SO sad, I loved it! It pains me remember that Earth 51 is now lost forever and I didn't realize how much I would have missed it until I read this gorgeous fic. Oh how I ache for deadinside!Batman to return now. :'(

Thank you! I'm really glad you liked, even if it's.. really kind of very sad. I was telling Jen I wanted to write something dark and instead came with a can of woobie, lol. I am so sad Earth 51 is destroyed, especially after reading Damo's coda! It's just.. so perfect! I want Earth 51 to not be destroyeeeed!

I also had great love for Monster Batman. Dead inside kind of suits him really well :P

I wish I could give you a longer review, but I honestly think you just broke my heart. Oh, gods, that was harsh and beautiful and terrible, and Bruce as the last monster ... No. You actually have broken my heart.

Aw, I'm sorry I broke your heart, and maybe also a little happy? Lol, it's really hard to give feedback/answer feedback about death fic, I suppose. But I'm really glad you enjoyed it, even if it was painful!

Bruce as a monster is kind of.. really appealing to me. Not as a monster-monster, but as a percived monster. Earth 1 Batman kind of fits the profile a bit as an urban legend, but Earth 51 Batman just reeked of it. And hard choices, who am I to question them?

Now hope is frozen, the winter of the heart keeping it asleep, waiting for a spring that he knows will come soon.

This line gets me every time. This and the last line just break my heart, all the tragic implications about hope and the human heart. *sniffles* And you know the last line is perfect, I'm so glad it resisted all our attempts to mess it up!

Mrow! I'm so happy this turned out fine! I really liked that line, too, so I'm glad you picked it out :P Winter of the heart, actually, it just.. I remember Pervy wrote a story about Clark's romances based on the seasons, and Bruce was winter, and I loved it. Even if winter does end and gives way to another season, I just like the idea of Bruce as cold weather :P

And I'm glad the last line was so stubborn, because I like it this way too! thank you so much for the help with the story, from plotting to beta :) You're a kitten gem *huuugs*
