Today is the Day of the Dead in Mexico, when we honor those departed. Thus, I have the day off school, even if it's not that big of a celebration in my area. I still like this day a lot, and I hope I'll have a chance to visit the graveyard this weekend. I'll write another story to cover my death-fic tradition with
damo_in_japan, but I wanted to weave the theme

But this. This is. This is AWESOME.
The tone. The emotional resonance of everything.
I shall sing a song of its wonders!
But in the immortal words of Tenacious D, it won't be the actual song, just a tribute.

I'm very glad you liked your story, Dan :) I did my best to suggest a past between Etrigan and PS and kill everyone in a stride. It was fun! Killing everyone is cleansing, but it's not as muse-inspiring as just killing one character... so.. I'll be killing Harv soon, even if it's way past Day of the Dead :P

Also, C'MONNNNN -- Johnny Sorrow? First to fall? Actually, yeah, I guess. *ponders*

And I'm not sure why Johnny Sorrow was the first to fall, I was writing it and the line just came to my head and I couldn't stop thinking it. I think Johnny would be on the first lines. He's not one used to be afraid. I'm very glad you liked it, Yaz! Thanks for reading :)

The idea of the heroes and villains alike banding together to protect Earth just leaves me speechless. That is one hell of a last stand, and added so much to the feeling of desperation.
And I love how you wrote this from the Phantom Stranger's POV as he's observing ... it really brought home how huge the scope of this battle is, especially the way fighter after fighter keeps falling in the wake of the storm while he's watching. And the voice you give him! Wow! It's so hard to get first person POV right, but this was just perfect.
I loved this line:
A contingent opens a way to the two fighting Champions, armor and Kevlar instead of invulnerable skin, technology and physics instead of magic and superpowers.
It sums up the difference between the metas and the human heroes/villains so beautifully! And this line about Diana was gorgeous, too:
They will follow her, for as long ( ... )

Villains and heroes banding together is a theme I really, really like! I wish I was better at writing epic stories so I could write a long sprawling Apocalyptic one. As it is, I settle for short stories! I love them so :)
Writing the villains as willing to help is tricky, putting a bit of distance between them and the POV helped... so I'm glad you liked how they team up and function with the heroes :)
I'm so happy you find this epic! it was loads of fun to write :) I am less stressed and cold today! are we still on for this Saturday? I hope we are!

And yay for being less stressed and less cold! And yes, we are on for Saturday! B:TAS or death! B:TAS or death! (unless you or the in_Japans need to reschedule =P) Anyway ... I'm assuming 8:30 ferret-time, 10:30 mine again? If I don't hear from you otherwise, I will see you then! *dances off in the direction of bed*
