Was spricht die tiefe Mitternacht?
"Ich schlief, ich schlief -,
Aus tiefem Traum bin ich erwacht - ;
Die Welt ist tief,
Und tiefer als der Tag gedacht.
Tief ist ihr Weh -
Lust - tiefer noch als Herzeleid;
Weh spricht: Vergeh!
Doch alle Lust will Ewigkeit
will tiefe, tiefe Ewigkeit!"
From: Also sprach Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche

This Nietzsche excerpt is so typical for his use of language: the words look so simple and the meaning is so complex.
Just like the term "Lust", which encompasses not only desire or delight but also pain and heartbreak. And the "wanting, forever" already implies perspicuously the "not getting, ever", which is in itself a "lustful pain".
I just saw that this has been my prompt from once upon a time, lol, thank you!

It didn’t happen very often, but whenever you got a call from Alfred politely asking you to come by the Manor, all you could do was take a break and promptly report yourself to the Wayne household caretaker.
Mwhahaha!!! Alfred is God.
“He’ll be embarrassed once he comes around. But sometimes coming around takes him a long time, and it’s better to nip this kind of thing in the bud.”
Alfred should write a book on how to deal with the BatClan! :P
“Would you please stop talking like that?” Clark didn’t like the way the conversation was going, and he didn’t think it was going to accomplish anything, other than upset them both. “I like to think I wouldn’t let that happen to you.”
Aww. *hugs Clark*
“I am thirty three, my father didn’t start going gray until he was thirty eight. These kinds of things are not supposed to happen overnight, Clark! I am getting old and showing it!”
Hee!!!! *glomps Bruce*
“A perennial paragon of manhood.”*falls ( ... )

I'm glad you liked laughing Bruce! I think sometimes you just gotta laugh at life being ridiculous and weird and unfair, or you go crazy. And writing the endearments was really fun! X) Thank you for reading, Star! I'm so glad you liked it!

Great job on this - sounds very much like them. And I really love how Bruce started out really anxious and then mad, and ended up roaring with laughter! :)
Thanks for sharing this one, made me giggle and smile a whole lot. :)

Bruce, I think, was mostly very annoyed at life, thus his general grumpiness :P But he has a way of telling half truths, and giving ridiculous endearments to Clark and turning himself on kind of defused the frustration... the story did it all on it's own, so I think the muses knew how to handle this better than I did :) Thank you for reading! I'm glad it could make you giggle :)
