My friends and I went out to eat for the first half, but we unplugged everything before we left and were only gone for that half-hour. The lights stayed off for the second half, and we talked in the dark. XD I thought it was fun!
We tried to go star gazing (hubby is amateur astronomer) with his newest scope. Unfortunately the dipsht automotive park couldn't be bothered to shut off their lights so it wasn't nearly as dark as we would have liked...Still we got to peek at the Andromeda Galaxy <--thats pretty much how it appeared to us ^^;
Bah. Seriously, people of the world, it's an hour one day of the year. It won't kill you to sit in the dark for an hour. And if you're worried you might lose business because people aren't always hip to the earth-friendly jive? Just say that you believe human beings are meant to perfect the efficiency of our technology because we know we can, and you want to support that.
But ohhhhh, Andromeda! That would have been so awesome to see! *punts her city, because it denies her even the brightest stars sometimes*
....On a related note, I totally had a dream I was stargazing last night (saw a very bright Orion and a shooting star!). Which isn't really all that awesome in itself, BUT THE ADDITIONAL CONTEXT WAS HILARIOUS. I can't even begin to type it without laughing, but know Resident Evil was involved.
Yeah. Businesses don't want to risk losing even an hour of business. Given the way things are at the moment, I can completely understand, but it's just an hour later in the evening anyway, I don't know that it would've hurt that much
( ... )
you know, you'd think that England would care more than the U.S. about this sort of thing, but I only know one person here who actually tried...and as for me, I panicked and did schoolwork instead. :/ Fail.
I'm normally nice to the environment though! ^.^ I hope that counts for something
It does! I try to be environmentally friendly, if only because I firmly believe that, if we have the technology to do so, why the hell shouldn't we do it?
My friends and I technically ended up going out to a dimly-lit restaurant for the first half, but then sat in the dark at my apartment for the second. We did unplug everything before we left, though.
I also firmly believe that schoolwork > most everything else. D:

Oh yeah it was so cool *blushes* Though being able to see the surface of the moon still amazes me as dork as I know that sounds...
Aww you serious? Woah! *has mental image of zombies in space and bursts out laughing* dare I ask?
