External hard drives are pretty much gifts from heaven, I think. I know mine totally saved my ass when my hard drive died and needed replacing.

But it still sucks that you lost all of your bookmarks D:! It doesn't help now, but for future reference you can back up your bookmark folder on your external hd too.

I thought for a moment that I had, actually, managed to save them, but alas, my external hard drive was lying to me.

Ah, well. My motto is if I can't remember what it was/how to find it, it must not have been so important anyway.
