Okay so I was browing io9 today and I saw this and then I scrolled down to the bottom to the awesome Portal-themed office and naturally my brain decided HOW DO I ONE-UP THIS AMAZING PAINT JOB

The answer, obviously: theme an entire room to look like a test chamber.

Cut for musings and brainstorming and PERHAPS I WILL JUST BUY A HOUSE SO I CAN DO THIS )

halp, clearly anwe needs a life, i regret nothing, [fandom] portal, anwe's obsessions

PRETTY MUCH THIS. I have grown increasingly fond of minimalistic color useage in homes - sticking mostly to black, white, and gray for the majority, with punches of color here and there, and recessed/hidden lighting, and really nice geometic shapes everywhere. BUT I also want to do what you want, too, and instead of high art on the walls I'll have framed movie posters and instead of cutesy knick-knack statuettes of rabbits or roosters or whatever I'll have videogame figures. MOD GEEK.

YES ALL OF THAT. There are some abstract pieces in our house that I like a lot, but by and large it's not a look I want to replicate in any house I own. I've seen a lot of classy, geeky rooms, and it just seems like there's no reason why a completely geeky house can't look spectacular. It's all in how it's done.

OH OH, THERE ARE SOME AMAZING TETRIS-THEMED BOOKSHELVES OUT THERE. I am tempted to go for one.
