Tim in tennis shorts

Feb 15, 2009 20:03

I promised faile_neume to find out in which issue Tim wears his tennis shorts. I found it just now.

It's Robin #166.

Here's a mediafire link for the issue.

I would also love it if someone could make a nice Tim in tennis shorts icon. For the good of fandom at large, of course. I'm pretty sure we're getting into Moral Imperative territory here.

I usually lurk, but I felt this needed to be pointed out. Even a good athlete doesn't have proper positioning on the court. A lot of people do/act normally, which doesn't translate well on the court. Biggest problem I face when getting someone to set up for a groundstroke is that they always step across their body. Period. The only people who don't are people who already play.

That's what I'm saying. If Tim was acting and moving in the way that usually did, he wouldn't be crossing his center. If you've trained in martial arts long enough, certain movements feel strange and awkward even when you're not doing a technique. Things like crossing the center of his body would not be something he normally did.

Watch an Aikido practitioner move. See how he shifts his hips with each movement so that he DOESN'T cross himself? Stuff like that was literally BEATEN into Tim by Shiva.

I get that it's common for a NORMAL person to cross themselves when playing tennis, but I feel like a serious martial artist wouldn't because that type of movement isn't natural for them.

Nah. I picked up tennis after I started on Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. Years after, and I found it hard to not cross. It's as if when you get out on the court the first time, your body goes stupid. A bunch of my friends that I've since taught do the same thing. One of my cousins gave it up and went back to just doing Kajukenbo (sp?) and Kempo. She said tennis was too hard.

I've never really played tennis, so I'll totally defer to you on this one.
