Before you read:
There was a drabble I made some time ago, that caused this fic to happen. I'm not sure if The Shower -Thing works on it's own, or if you need to see that one first and think this as a sequel, but
the original drabble can be found here. The Shower Thing
There were three shower stalls in the bathroom directly connected to their resting room. Only three, and no matter how hard he tried, today Sho just cound't make it in time to be one of the firsts to use them. Today he had particularly tried, not that he usually would have to, what with Ohno and Nino matter-of-factly sharing one and Jun always lingering behind to talk with staff and plan things with the director. Today Jun too seemed to be in a hurry, and Sho tried in vain to find the reason for it in his mental Arashi schedule, until he caught Jun's eyes when the man hurried briskly past him, practicly pushing him aside in efford to take the stall Sho was heading to. Jun was amazing, Sho thought as he was left behind a closing shower door, with the way his eyes could speak with more feeling and speed than Aiba on a sugar rush, -only clearer. Take care of it, or else, was what Jun had wanted to convey.
Sho grimaced and took a step towards the stall to his right, only to have someone jump his back and circle slim legs around his waist and cling to his neck.
"Huh, Nino?" Sho wondered out loud but not before his well-taught reflexes had made him take a sidestep for emergency balance and caught Nino's legs to support the slight man. Sho felt Nino's grin spreading against the side of his neck and warm puffs of air from Nino's silent laughter.
"What're you doing Nino?" Sho frowned as he saw Ohno sneak swiftly past them to a stall. It wasn't exactly subtle distraction, since Ohno turned before closing the door and made a very Nino-ish v-sign at them eyes sparkling with mischief, but it was a working one anyway. Nino didn't bother to explain himself, he rarely did, but nevertheless planted a loud smacking kiss to Sho's cheek as he squirmed himself off of Sho's back to run and invade the last remaining free shower stall.
Sho was left there standing alone behind the three closed doors, stark naked and shivering with only his towel around his waist. 'This is a conspiracy', he thought grimly. He was, of course, right on the mark with his suspicions, but then again, he did know where it all started.
"Goo~od morning!!"
"Aiba!" Sho screamed, and then without a pause, "Getoff, getoff! ..Off of me you idiot!"
Aiba was pushed out of the shower without a seconds notice and Sho continued showering shaking with surprise and anger, distractedly trying to wash away the tingly feeling on his skin where Aiba had draped his long arms around Sho.
He was so upset by the other's thoughtlessness, that Aiba's sullen mood and silence passed his notice until the rehearsal started with everyone there and suddenly looking worried and asking 'what's wrong with Aiba why is he concentrating on singing and dancing today did you do something to upset him'? Sho had not choise but to tell them, but if he expected understanding, he couldn't have been more wrong.
"So?" Nino said leaning his chin on Ohno's shoulder. His chin was sharp and painful when digged straight to bone, Sho knew it from experience, but Ohno hadn't even flinched.
"I always shower with Oh-chan and he never pushes me away."
"I never push Nino away," Ohno repeated unnecessarily but earned a gentle smile from Nino anyway.
Jun on the other hand had turned to watch Aiba sulk alone on the far side of the stage. Aiba was still refusing to come any closer to Sho during their quick drink break and only approached them when the director called the break over. Jun watched Aiba and said nothing. Yet. That's when Sho realised he was in serious trouble.
Sho was still there, standing behind the shower stalls lost in his thought, when Aiba walked unhurriedly in to the resting room. He looked briefly towards the suddenly tensed Sho, but had a vacant look on his face and merely made a soft 'oh' -sound of recognition. The sound resonated somewhere inside Sho and made goosebumps appear all over his arms. Sho explained himself how chilly it was standing there in the nude, and how that must have caused the goosebumps. What he didn't think was why he felt the fact needed explaining in the first place.
It was weird for Sho how different Aiba looked now, when he really thought about his appearance again after so many years. He had barely gave it a thought at all during the past ten years they had been in a band together. Not after the first few hours of really meeting the newly formed Arashi. During that very first time even the most familiar Nino had looked somehow different when he was considered a real member of his band and not as just his best friend in Jimusho. Sho remembered how Aiba had looked enthusiastic and eager, with a little bit of 'scared out of his wits' they all had going on back then, and also just pretty. Pretty like no boy should ever look, to Sho's opinion.
Aiba looked so different now. There was still something similar about the way Aiba behaved, always full of energy and ready for anything, but the pretty-in-a-clumsy-way boy had grown into a very good looking man. A man with knowledge of his looks and a boy's inquiring mind to find out it's effects on others. Something Sho had learned, watching from afar, always feeling a sting of..something.
Sho frowned, now that he really looked, there was few laugh lines around Aiba's eyes, that hadn't been there before, and his face had this seriousness, a feel of an adult. This kind of seriousness had never been one of the boy-Aiba's range of expressions. Aiba was often happy and laughing, but also suddenly teary-eyedly sad, pouty or even angry on few memorable occasions. (He could still remember one, during which, after Nino had crossed a line with his teasing jokes about Aiba's warm and kind family that they all actually loved dearly, Nino had found himself flung against a wall with a red faced Aiba pinning him down and shouting at him with all his admirable lung capasity. Sho shivered at the memory; it had took all his and Jun's combined strenght to separate the two, while Ohno had stood at the door and held on the handle when the staff alarmed by the noise had tried to enter the room.)
Somehow, Sho realised suddenly, he could remember every single one of Aiba's vividly changing expressions.. The unexpected thought brought him back to the moment, back to staring at Aiba's closed face. Aiba was now busying himself with his training bag, digging up a huge, green towel, that Sho guessed would have a tiger imprinted in it, and a change of clothes. Sho felt a deep crimson blush creeping its way up his neck and seddling on his cheeks. The shower, he thought and even the thought seemed to be out of breath. “After the rehearsal, we'll shower together!” was what Aiba had cheerfully told him after he had apologised for what happened in the morning. Although Sho had promptly and straightforwardly refused, Aiba had insisted and made everyone know their plan, his plan, and that was when everyone had decided, against all odds, to approve of it earnestly. That's why Sho knew very well why Jun had sacrificed his precious talking session with the director and why Nino and Ohno weren't sharing a shower.
Because they are all traitors, that's why, Sho thought but couldn't seem to gather enought strenght to be actually angry about it, not with Aiba right there, gracefully streching his long limbs, waiting for their turn to shower. Our turn to shower..together was what his mind seemed to tell him, echoing the previous thought all on it's own accord, like the fact would somehow be important in a level he had not yet quite comprehended.
Sho couldn't quite decide if the thought of showering with Aiba was bothering him more than the fact that he should somehow probably be more bothered about the prospect of showering with Aiba. He was anxious about having to shower with another man, yes, but what was he really all that worried about? It was still the same familiar Aiba, who would be in the shower with him, the same Aiba he had known for years and knew every detail of. Sho could very well (disturbingly well actually if he thought about it, only he didn't want to), picture Aiba in a shower with him, plain old Aiba, with a grin as big as life and wet strands of hair clinging cutely to his forehead. He imagined how the warmth of Aiba's body would reach him in the cramped shower stall and he could almost see the drops of water glisten and roll down on Aiba's firm body, over the golder brown chest to his abdomen, lingering on his belly button before slowly, so very slowly, dropping lower..
Sho licked his lips deep in his thought and then blinked. He was suddenly very aware of a change in something. Why could he hear his own heart beat so loudly in his ears now? He realised three things in very short succession after that thought: that the shower heads had stopped running almost simultaniously only moments ago; that he was feeling very hot dispite the cool air coming in from the open door between resting room and the bathroom; and that he was quite visibly aroused with all his fellow member soon to crowd the bathroom and see it.
Completely losing his cool, Sho spun his head wildly to find something to hide himself, or at least his hard on, behind, more than his useless towel. As expected, his usually so imaginative mind couldn't think of anything helpful in time so he had to face the first one to appear from the shower stalls, with a confused red face and..well, the obvious. Thank the gods it was Jun and not either one of the other two.
Jun paused barely noticeably in his actions as he read the situation and made a desicion. He continued to dry his hair while stepping away from the stall and casually threw his impressively sized wash bag at Sho as he passed by. Sho caught it just in time to hold it only slightly suspiciously against his lower body for when Ohno and Nino stepped out of their stalls at the same time with similar movements, like it was some rehearsed number of their's.
"Aaaaw~" begun Nino and Sho was completely sure he was busted, until Nino continued, "You waited for us all this time? Like a little boyscout, didn't you, just so you could borrow Junnosuke's make up bag," ("Toiletry," came an exasperated aswer from the restroom) if Nino noticed Sho breath out the air he had been holding, he didn't say anything. Instead he only gave Sho one of his twisted smiles and dragged Ohno out of the bathroom from the knot of the older man's towel, loosely hanging around his waist. Judging by the shortly following shout from Jun's side, it had been too loosely knotted.
This was it, Sho knew. Soon he'd be in a shower with..
"Aiba?" Sho couldn't help the question slipping from his tongue as Aiba brushed past him to the shower stall in the middle and closed the door without so much as looking at Sho.
"What is it Sho-chan?" Aiba spoke from behind the closed door, sounding a bit tired. What did he mean with 'what is it'? Aiba couldn't have forgotten, could he? That they were supposed to.. Sho opened and closed his mouth a couple of times in search of words that wouldn't sound like he was asking to be let in the same stall, but perhaps would convince Aiba to do just that.
"..Nothing," he finally managed, face burning in embarrassment and feeling like an idiot. He stomped to another free stall and nearly threw Jun's wash bag to the floor before the thought of the sadistic and cruel punishment, that would undoubtedly occur to anyone mistreading Jun's posessions, landed his mind like a splash of cold water. As unnerving as it was, the idea creeped his mind: he wasn't actually disappointed, was he?
