“Nino, I’m in love.”  Aiba sighed, resting his head on his hand, watching a sempai class play soccer on the field below.

“It’s not love, you’re just hungry.  I’ll sell you a candy bar for 500 yen.”  Nino didn’t look up from his manga, his feet propped on his desktop.

“No…look at the goalie……”  Rather then glance to the window, Nino looked into his best friend’s face and saw the telltale glow of romance.

“You sound like a love sick school girl.”  Nino rolled his eyes.  “I guess it is true…all boys schools do turn people gay.”

“How do you know I wasn’t gay to begin with?”  Aiba argued with his eyes still glued to the soccer game.  “Would you just look at him?”

“Fine fine…”  Nino’s eyes flickered lazily to the field.  “Which goa…..”  But Nino’s breath was stolen, by  a blonde haired striker on the north end.   Even after the ball was passed to a teammate who scored the winning point, Nino’s eyes were locked on the striker.

“Isn’t he handsome?” Aiba swooned.

“C-cute….”  Nino whispered out of the corner of his mouth, though he wasn’t talking about Aiba’s goalie.

“NINO NINO!  WE HAVE TO TAKE A BATH!”  Aiba exploded into their shared dorm room, red faced and giddy.

“….We just showered this morning.”  Mumbled Nino comfy on his top bunk with his DS trying very hard not to let the thoughts of the blonde striker invade his thoughts anymore then they already had for the past week.   Had it really only been a week?

“But I saw the goalie went in there just now, please come with me!”  Aiba ran around the room trying to gather bath items, but ending up with a bottle of soda rather then shampoo, and a bar of chocolate rather then soap.

With a heavy sigh for his discombobulated roommate, Nino saved his game and rolled off the top bunk, gathering the proper bath time supplies.  “You’re too obsessed with this goalie…you don’t even know his name.”

“Not yet….but I have to take baby steps…first I’m going to peep on him in the bath…then…I’ll bump into him in the hall…and he’ll drop his student handbook, so I’ll pick it up for him, and he’ll apologize and then introduce himself.  Then I’ll know his name!”  Aiba bit his lip, excited, as they walked to the bath.

“And you’ll get married, and have two kids, and live in a big blue cosmopolitan house with a white picket fence.”  Sarcastically, Nino clapped his hands, his tongue sharper then normal, but Aiba was far too nervous to listen or care.

They walked into the empty changing area quietly, with Aiba alternating between looking around for signs of the goalie wide-eyed, and gluing his eyes to the tile shyly.  Naked but for towels tied around their waists,  Nino and Aiba turned the corner and into the bath.

Nino could tell instantly, by the sudden death grip on his arm that the only other person in the bath, was the goalie who had captured Aiba’s heart.

“Hello.”  Nino nodded to the goalie, as he and Aiba slipped into the water.   Nino glanced at Aiba, who was pointedly staring at the clock on the wall.  With a smile, Nino decided to take things into his own hands.  “I’m Ninomiya of 1-B, and this is my roommate Aiba, of the same class.  Forgive me for being rude but, you’re our sempai, yes?”

“Sakurai Sho.  And yes, I’m from 2-A.  I’ve seen you around…..”  Though Sho was talking to Nino, his gaze kept drifting to Aiba.  “You’re on the basketball team right?”

Aiba either didn’t realize he was being spoken too, or was experiencing an overload of emotions, inhibiting any reaction until Nino pinched his arm.  “Ow…..um…I saw you playing a soccer game the other day in gym class…you were the goalie, right?”

“Yeah, I’ve been doing soccer since elementary school.  It’s actually the only sport I excel in.”  Sho blushed, scratching his cheek embarrassed.  “But I’ve seen you play basketball….you’re amazing on the court, you handle the ball so well.”

“Y-you’ve seen me play?”  Aiba awed, scooting around the large tub, to sit next to Sho.

“I…I’ve been to every game this year.”  Sho stirred in the water, obviously nervous.

As the two fell into their world of sports, Nino wanted to laugh.  Sho the goalie was obviously into Aiba, and had been waiting for Aiba to approach him. It felt good,  Nino smiled, breaking the ice for Aiba…as if he were a matchmaker.

“Ah, Sho-kun, sorry I’m late!”  A high voice echoed in the bathroom and Nino turned his head casually to see where the voice came from.

The blonde striker.

Who happened to be very, very naked.

All the blood in Nino’s body drained, which made little sense as his heart was beating fast enough to make up for the loss.  No matter how much he told his eyes to look away, the wouldn’t, couldn’t….

“It’s fine Satoshi.  This is Aiba…and Ninomiya.”  Sho introduced, blushing when his arm bumped into Aiba’s chest.

“Nice to meet you.”  Satoshi nodded in Aiba’s direction, and slipped into the tub next to Nino.  “I’m Ohno Satoshi.”

His mouth suddenly dry, Nino tried to swallow but couldn’t.  Butterflies couldn’t even begin to describe the turmoil that suddenly erupted in his stomach when Ohno turned his head and smiled in a simple, but enchanting way.

Without making a conscious decision to move, Nino bolted out of the bath, not pausing to dry or dress, until he was safe in his dorm room, hiding under his blanket covers again.

‘…Oh god…why did I run?  I must have looked so stupid. ….wait, why do I care if I looked stupid?  But still that was so embarrassing…..and I shouldn’t be embarrassed.  This is dumb.  I’m being dumb.  Why do I even care what Satoshi thinks of me…………………Satoshi…so his name is Satoshi….Ohno Satoshi….’  Nino grinned into his pillow, and whispered. “Ohno… Satoshi…”  Nino half giggled, “Ohno Satoshi.”  Giggling with his heart racing his chest, Nino curled up against the wall.  “Ohno Satoshi.”

With a disturbing start, Nino realized what he was doing and why.  ‘Oh god…not a crush….anything but this, please…’

Unfortunately for Nino, Aiba hit it off well with Sho.  It was unfortunate because Sho’s best friend, and roommate happened to be Ohno Satoshi.  Whenever Sho ‘coincidentally’ ran into Aiba in the halls, Ohno was there.

And Nino would run for the hills.

Then the day came, nearly a month later, when both Aiba and Sho disappeared together in the emergency exit.  For two hours.

When Aiba returned to their dorm room with a limp, disheveled hair, a love mark on his clavicle, but happy beyond earthly definition, Nino became scared.

It wasn’t that he didn’t like Sho, or didn’t want Aiba to be happy.  It wasn’t even that he resented Aiba for being in a relationship, when Nino couldn’t even stay in the same room as Ohno for five seconds.  It was quite simply that Nino feared being left alone.

However, Nino changed his mind and wanted desperately to be left alone, when Aiba decided to start eating with Sho, during lunch and dinner, because he always made sure to drag Nino along.  And of course, Ohno was there too.

They had gotten to the cafeteria first, thankfully.  Nino set the tray on the table next to Aiba, and chomped carnivorously on his steak.

“Sho-chan!”  Aiba’s arm bolted up in greeting, knocking Nino’s fork out of his hand.  As if in slow motion, Nino watched the fork, laden with steak, arch over the table and land ridiculously at Ohno’s feet.  The slow motion continued, as Nino watched Ohno bend over, retrieve the fork.

“Ninomiya…your fork…”  Ohno smiled, the effect impossibly managing to both stop Nino’s heart and make it race without pause.

Panicking, Nino bolted again without meaning too, leaving Aiba, his steak, and Ohno’s outstretched hand behind.

“Why do you hate Ohno-sempai?”  Aiba asked the next day, as they walked through the school halls on their way to after school activities. “If he’s done something to you, I’ll talk to Sho-chan and-”

“Shut up, it’s nothing.”  Nino growled, before a revelation struck him still in the middle of the hall.  “Does he think I hate him?”

“Um, yeah.  You kind of run a way from him when he says ‘hi’ or whenever you're in a room with-…..OH MY GOSH! YOU LIKE HIM!”  Aiba squealed, pointing an accusing finger at Nino, who paled, and quickly started walking again.

“…I don’t……. hate him…”  Nino mumbled, a blush creeping into his cheeks.  “I run because…I suddenly remember I have something better to do, that’s all.”

“Liar! You like him, you like him!  You wanna tell him? Should I?  Can I?”  Aiba pleaded, excited.

“Shut up and go to practice.”  Nino kicked Aiba towards the gym, walking alone down the corridors.

‘…He thinks I hate him…god I’m a jerk…despite that…he’s been so friendly…he keeps trying…”

With his eyes glued on the tile, Nino had his mind elsewhere when he bumped into a passing theater club student, their collision sending a box of props flying.

“Ah, crap I’m sorry.”  Nino bent over, and gathered the contents of the box, a bazooka, red and blue feathers with strips matching red and blue silk cloth.

“Um…I’m sorry too…for whatever I’ve done…” When the theater student spoke, their hands brushed over each other, and Nino recognized the hands, and looking up, he recognized the face all to well.

“E-Eh?!”

But this time, Ohno was the one to flee, leaving Nino alone and conflicted in the hallway.

Nino was comfy again on his bunk bed, doing English homework, when a knock came at the door.  Aiba was spending ‘alone’ time with Sho, and would barge into the room on his own anyway, so Nino assumed it was their dorm neighbor when he opened the door without looking.

“Jun, I told you I don’t have nail polish, go ask Yamapi.”

“W-who is Jun?”  Asked his guest, who turned out to be Ohno Satoshi.

After an awkward and silent minute, Nino slammed the door in Ohno‘s face.

‘Oh god…why is he here?  Did he come to see me? Oh my god…and I just slammed the door in his face.   Why did I do that?…“ Nino bonked his head on the closed door in regret.  “Wait…are those footsteps…oh no! He’s leaving!”

Nino threw open the door, and called after Ohno’s retreating back.  “Um…did you want something?”

Ohno returned to the doorway slowly, and Nino then noticed the gym bag he was carrying.

“Were you kicked out?”  Nino asked, surprised at himself for being able to converse normally with Ohno.

“They didn’t ask me to leave, but it was weird being there with them…”  Ohno smiled, and Nino’s knees became like jell-o.

“Ah.”  Nino smiled back as best he could.  “That would be weird.”

“I…um….I kind of need a place to sleep…”

After three seconds, Nino slammed the door again.

‘He said… he wants to sleep …with me…or in my room at least…Oh god…I can’t do this I can’t…I just slammed the door on him again too, he’ll hate me, I just know it.  I’m an idiot and a jerk.’  Nino’s self berating thoughts were interrupted by  another knock, and Nino opened the door again, to Ohno‘s hurt face.  “Sorry…it’s a reflex….”

“That’s ok.  I just wanted to apologize for taking your time, and I’ll look elsewhere for a bed.”

“No!  I can share mine! I mean, you can sleep in Aiba’s bed.”  Nino’s words gushed out in a mindless rush.

“Ah, thank you.”  Ohno smiled again, and Nino tried very hard not to faint.

“Y-Yeah.”

“….Can I come in?”  Ohno asked, after another long minute of silence while he stood in the hall.

“Ah, yeah…sorry.”  Nino stepped aside, his eyes locking onto Ohno’s ass as the older boy entered.  ‘Oh…oh god…’

“Um…where should I put my stuff?”  Ohno looked around, unsure.

“Ah, anywhere is fine…can I get you a drink or something?”

“No thanks, I’m good.”  Ohno set his bag on the floor next to the desk, and pulled out the chair.

With a pang of disappointment Nino noticed then, that Ohno was already in his pajamas.  ‘So I won’t…get to seem him change?  Maybe that’s for the best….damn.’

They settled into silence.  Nino pulled his homework books from his bed, and sat on the floor with his pillow, so he could pretend to be puzzling over a question when he was really staring at Ohno.  The older boy either didn’t notice, or didn’t care, as he removed a sketchbook from his bag, and a pencil case.

Nino thought now would be a good time to say something suave to break the incredibly awkward atmosphere like, ‘So you’re in art class?’ or maybe ‘What play is the theater club performing this year?’ and they would hit it off from there.

But Nino’s tongue seemed to be on strike.  Regardless of how many times he opened and closed his mouth, nothing came.  Fortunately, Ohno seemed comfortable in the silence, he smiled softly to himself as he doodled.

And so, several hours past, with Nino waging an internal war against himself, and Ohno drew, silent and content.

Ohno closed his sketchbook at long last, and Nino quickly looked back to his homework, afraid of being caught gawking.

Yawning as he tucked the book back into his bag, Ohno rose to his feet, and looked at the beds.  “Do you want top or bottom?”

“C-come again?“ Nino’s mouth dropped slightly, and he gapped at Ohno.  ‘Does he mean…what I think he means?!’

“Do you want top or bottom?” Ohno repeated, scratching his head in a most adorable way.

“I always top!  I mean…I don’t think I’d make a very good bottom…unless since you’re older, you think you should.….maybe somewhere down the line we can switch?”  ‘Oh god…just shut your mouth Ninomiya!  You know he’s talking about the bunk beds!’

“I-I’m fine with the bottom.”  Ohno blushed, walking to the stacked beds and sitting with just enough distance between himself and Nino to where they couldn’t touch accidentally.

“Ah, that’s great, good night then.”  Instantly, Nino closed his books, and jumped up to turn off the light before scrambling up to the top bunk.

In the dark silence, Nino listened to Ohno climb into Aiba’s bed, praying that the sheets were clean of crumbs, mud or…Nino blocked out the thought.

“Do you believe what they say, Ninomiya-kun?”  Ohno asked into the silence after a minute had passed.

“W-what do they say?” Nino asked, wondering if Aiba had been spreading rumors accidentally about him again.

“That being in an all boys school makes you gay.”

“I…don’t know about that…”  Nino swallowed, chilled.

“S-so…you’re not…not-”

“Are you?”  Nino words were hopeful, wishing.

“I…I‘m not sure...”  By the muffled voice Nino could tell Ohno was speaking into his pillow.

“There’s a way to check you know.”  Nino couldn’t believe his own daring.

“There is?”

Steeling himself, Nino dropped to the floor, and crawled into the bed next to Ohno.  “H-how does this make you feel?”

“Crowded but cozy?”  Ohno blinked, moving over slightly to make room for Nino.

Nino bit his lip, and examined Ohno’s curious features in the darkness.  He should just stop now, and be happy.   But in the past month he had been in love with Ohno, Nino learned that his body didn’t like obeying orders.

As much as Nino couldn’t stop himself from running away for nearly a month, he couldn’t stop himself from propping himself on his elbow, and swooping down to kiss Ohno softly on the lips.

With a smile to hide his nervousness, Nino pulled back having lost track of how long their mouths were together.  “How did that make you….oh god.”

Nino stared horrified, as tears trailed down Ohno’s face.  ‘He isn’t gay….oh god, what have I done…’  “I’m sorry, just forget that ever happ-mmmfff”

Ohno pulled Nino back, seaming their lips together again, but not daring to go deeper.  When they separated, Ohno spoke first.  “I’m so happy…I was afraid you hated me because you always run away..”

“It’s…it’s the opposite.”  Nino blushed, pulling the blanket up to hide his face.

“The opposite of what?”  Ohno slid down under the blankets to match Nino at eye level.

“I like you.”  Nino exhaled, his eyes closed to make the confession easier.

Ohno smiled, blushed and giggled.

Nervously, Nino put his arm around Ohno’s waist, and drew him closer.  “Is that your way of saying ‘I like you too?’”

“Mm.”  Ohno nodded, kissing Nino on the nose quickly and briefly.  The spot where Ohno‘s lips were, warmed Nino‘s whole body, and he started giggling too.  Ohno pulled him closer, and they kissed again, their tongues darting into each other’s mouths, but retreating timidly when coming into contact with each other.

Nino rolled on top of Ohno, wincing slightly when his head bumped the top bunk, before Ohno pulled him back down into another clumsy kiss.  They were both too nervous to let their hands explore under clothing, or to let them travel to forbidden areas, but an intimate touch could still be delivered along the neck with the stroke of a finger.

“Sorry, I forgot it Sho-chan…I left the lube right- OH OH OH!”  The light suddenly flipped on, and Ohno and Nino froze, mid-kiss.  “See, Sho-chan, I TOLD you he liked Ohno…I told you!”

“Aiba!” Sho and Nino shouted in unison, while Ohno blushed beneath Nino.

“Just get what we came for please, Masaki”  Sho muttered, politely averting his eyes from the new couple.

“Right….but maybe we should leave some for them.”  Aiba crossed the room, and pulled a bottle of lube out of his dresser drawer.  He popped the lid and walked over to Nino, who was still sitting on Ohno’s stomach.  “Hold out your hand and I’ll pour you some!”

“…Aiba…please leave before I kill you.”  Nino stared unblinkingly from Aiba to the lube he held out.

“But you need it, or it hurts real bad.”

“What hurts?”  Ohno asked, curious glancing from Nino to Aiba.

“…It.”  Red, Aiba half glanced at Sho who was pointedly staring elsewhere.

“And what is it?”  Ohno asked again, puzzled.

Aiba, and Nino stared at Ohno, disbelieving, and Sho spoke softly  “Sex, Satoshi.”

“…………………Two guys can do that?  I thought it was only possible with a girl!”  Ohno gasped.

“You…..you didn’t know?”  Nino moved off Ohno, so the other could sit up.

“I-Is that what…we…were just…?”

“I’ll just um….leave this here and borrow some from Jun next door.  He never returned my nail polish anyway.”  Aiba set the lube next to the bed, and took Sho’s arm.  “Come on, Sho-chan.”

“But…shouldn’t we stay and explain…the birds and the bees?”  Sho blushed, as he was steered out of the room.

“That’s something Nino will do, don’t worry.” Aiba gave Sho a consoling pat on the ass, and closed the door to the dorm room.

Both Nino and Ohno stared at the bottle, long after Aiba and Sho had left.

“S-should…did you...I…um…”  Nino ran a hand though his hair.

“…h-how about…some other time?”  Ohno offered, rubbing his nose.

“That sounds good.”  Nino sighed, relieved.

They remained where they were, the atmosphere still awkward when Nino spoke again.  “Can…um…should we go back to kissing though?  Would that be good?”

“Good.”  Ohno nodded, already crawling towards Nino’s end of the bed.
