So...yesterday we went back to Andy with updates on what's been happening and he set up a meeting with Diana, Thuy Vy, and I and the RD on duty at the time. We told him some stuff and he kind of advises us with how to act and handle her and stuff since there's really not much that we can do except support her and keep trying to get her to come with ( Read more... )

I was upset about Prop 8 passing too, but honestly, as much as I would LOVE for teh courts to overturn it, I know that doing so would be a bigger violation of our rights. The people have spoken through their votes, and even though I think their votes are fucking wrong, what's worse is to have the courts overturn it. Because then we would be even less of a democracy than we are now.

The only I can hope for in regards to Prop 8 is that next election, an anti-prop 8 will show up on the ballot and actually pass this time. (So close! It was so close in November! So that mean we're making slow progress, right?)

Anyway, I hope things are alright with Priscilla. Her sister's reaction really put me off though... why would someone joke around with something as serious as this?

I agree. There's always the next ballot >.o' Still infuriating that it passed though, so much for progressivism =/

Yeah, she seems to be doing ok for now. Her parents just came over and took her to dinner, so hopefully that gives her a boost ^^;

...it put us all off. I would be in disbelief, but i would probably believe it.
why would we lie (i mean, staying till 2am at a hospital during crunch time? not really what you'd do for no reason you know?)

she just passed it off as "yeah, i had the same thing for a couple of weeks, she'll get over it" -_-' it's been more like a couple of years, so obviously time isn't the answer. she claimed that she knows Priscilla, but she couldn't even name her friends back home (which we can do, even though she doesn't really talk about them taht often)

i still think you guys should just call her parents. didn't one of you guys manage to get a hold of them once and they brought torta over? either way, i hope things will begin to work out.

and honestly, when you told me her sister's reply in the car yesterday, i immediately wondered what her family situation is and how really supportive they are of each other.

did you ever get the email i sent you from courage campaign called "fidelity"? they have a really powerful video on their site too. i don't remember if that one is on youtube tho...

and a small comment on dramatic's post: i guess it depends on what kind of democracy you're talking about. majority rule sometimes goes against democratic ideals and that's when the courts have to step in and protect the rights of the minorities that are guaranteed to everyone by the california constitution.
