When you want to Support an Author--someone whose work you just absolutely cannot get enough of and you have just discovered that Borders and Hastings apparently did not order their latest--how is it best to make your purchase? I've had this problem before, and the simplest/fastest/cheapest way I've had it resolved is to ask the Author.

I've actually had great success contacting the Author (blog, email, forum, what have you), and asking how to get a copy of said book. In my experience, they've either pointed me in the right direction, sold it to me themselves, or, in some instances, just sent me a copy for free.

Give it a try - the worst that can happen is no reply or a canned letter.
