He's producing, not directing. Sure, that means he has some creative control, but he won't be behind the camera.
What's wrong with two movies? I would think they could add a lot more detail from the book and give it the attention it deserves. Though it would be hard to pick a stopping point I guess.
problem is, it`s not going to be a stop in the middle type of thing. The article said it would be "The Hobbit" and "The Hobbit Sequel". Sequel to me means ominous things like "The Return of the Hobbit" or even "The Hobbit Strikes Back"...or "Attack of the Hobbits". lol. It doesn`t sound at all good...if they must, just make one!

According to this article, The Hobbit is one film and the other film will bridge the gap between Hobbit-happenings and LotR-happenings. So I suppose they'll glean stuff from UT/HoMe for that. I'm quite interested to see what they'll do with #2.
