Pity indeed! May I ask which area? East coast? West coast? Midwest? South? I hope your conference in exciting. I also wish you good luck in your flight arrangements (may no stinky breath / insomniac baby / cough & sneezes sit beside you).

Botherism... well it's a Korean slang I chose to translate that way. Botherism, in short, is the extreme case of not doing stuff because it's bothersome. Think Nara Shikamaru. Then imagine him not watching the pretty clouds in the sky -- which he loves -- just because it's so bothersome to roll around, face-up. That's botherism.
Or imagine yourself in your living room. You spy a banana. But you choose not to eat it, because it is so very far away (4 feet) and you can't reach it without getting up to get it.
That's botherism. Not a healthy way of life, I tell you.
