Wooooow. @_@ MY FREAKING GOD! THIS FIC IS AMAZING! I love AUs and long fics as a rule but this one was totally exceptional. Can't imagine who would win, but I think they would put on such a show that they would be both left alive.

Also, I'm embarrassed to say I imagined them in their tennis gear. xD

Only today, going through meretricula's Fedal recs list, did I realise that I had never actually read this, and now I have I am utterly broken. This is such an amazing AU, capturing everything about them in a different context. And it is heartbreaking. Tears in my eyes at the ending. I can't.

It's so obvious you know lots about this context, too. The detail is so compelling. And the descriptions! From this angle all there was to be seen was the man's bare back, slick with sweat and gleaming like bronze in the low gold light, the muscles of the shoulders taut with the anticipation of pain. I can see it so clearly. And that's just one example of so many.

And Rafa begging Roger to run away at the end. So, so sad, and so, so Rafa.

And Roger! They trained together so much that Roger began to feel that he would never be able to fight another man, that he was moulding himself into the opponent for Rafa. There would never be another opponent for Roger; there would never be another fight after this one. It's kind of eerie how that echoes ( ... )
