 So, it's a nice night, a bit relaxing, and I was looking through LIFE magazine's photo galleries (awesome, btw) and came across a couple photos of Olivia de Havilland, which of course made me think of Captain Blood, 'cause that's an awesome movie.  And I thought "hey, I'd love to read some good fanfic for that movie" so of course I got on the

Eeek... I've never seen that particular movie, but it's always rather squicky when one comes across slash for fandom universes that don't really have the framework to warrant it. For example, when I was originally looking for Music Man fanfic to read online, I came across a Harold/Marcellus and a Marcellus/Tommy slash fic - not explicit, but still a bit creepy. I mean, I suppose I can understand why someone might see potential for Harold/Marcellus, but Marcellus/Tommy?! (Not that I'm opposed to slash fics in general, but in the wrong universe they are jarring and well, rather gross!).

Oh, I know, right! It's very squicky... I think I saw those slash fics, and got squicked out too... I just don't like it when people completely ignore the canon pairing as if it never happened, and proceed to make their own pairings that really have no basis from the story...and besides, I really was looking forward to some good Blood/Arabella fic--there is a lot of potential for it. Oh well *sigh*

And you ought to see Captain Blood--it's not a masterpiece, but it is great fun. Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland's first onscreen pairing, and the pairing that made them stars. :D Swashbuckling, eye candy...what more does oen want? :)
