Ragtime has always been my be all end all, so Wheels of a Dream made my day. I hoped beyond hope for Make Them Hear You, but knew better than to expect it.
I have to say though, other than This Nearly Was Mine (I bit the bullet and was 6 rows back, so acoustics were no problem), Hooray for Tom might have been my favorite moment.
I would've enjoyed more in the lower register, and one of the reasons I love Stokes is that I'm a bass, and there are so few good leading men songs in that range, and he's done his fair share. I was nervous the way he opened the night that the whole show would have that lounge feel, but on the whole I enjoyed it.
I was impressed at what a natural storyteller he was. I've done Taming of the Shrew before and so I really enjoyed the Kiss Me Kate story in particular.

I too would have liked more songs in his lower register--it's so beautiful! And I echo your feelings about the opening number--I was really hoping the whole evening wasn't going to be like that. But it was good. I'm glad I was able to go! :)
