So what it boils down to is the fact that he's a spoiled fucking manchild, and can't handle someone being more successful then he is. His brilliant solution is some half-baked plan to try to make the mangaka's life miserable to the point of them wanting commit suicide. Y'know, rather than make any effort to improve his own shitty life.

Well, misery loves company, as the saying goes. I feel no pity for him at all. It's one thing to suffer debilitating depression, but it's a very different ballpark when you intentionally try to hurt others and drag 'em down with you.
