Inohara Yoshihiko (of V6) still participate in the newest season of Keishicho, which aired in TV Asahi, as a supporting role. And up until now, Keishicho still got good ratings. To say that they won't hire any Johnny's is an exaggeration, because that means they have to replace Inohara with another person, which is quite impossible because his character is not a seasonal thing like Aibou.

You reap what you sow; sometimes it is much better to be the 2nd character because in that case you won't gain that much blame for flop shows

Those dramas are jinxed. They have unlucky co-stars, ratings-wise. Those who are called ratings killers. People were saying so before the dramas started airing, and predictions have been true to form.

And the last I checked, Aiba is still a Johnny, and his solo show is doing relatively well.

I often wish Johnnys would be cast as secondary characters and practice their acting skills and build up their resumes and eventually get to the point where they'd be able to lead a drama well instead of just getting the lead all the time. I'd much rather see my favorite Johnnys as minor characters in a large cast (without other Johnnys) than leading or in a drama with a ton of Johnnys in the cast.

Only the ones who are positioned as the face of a group, or of a group that has very strong backing from the company that only and always keeps getting lead roles. Like Yamapi and Kame. SMAP members are different, but even Inagaki Goro played non-lead a few times lately. Kis my ft2 is a group that is pushed very strongly so the members tend to do lead roles, but not always. But like Kame, Taguchi of Kattun, Kanjani8 members other than Ryo, they normally get supporting roles.

I think in a way, some are supposed to have "training" before debuting, that's what most of these people do. Even arashi members weren't always leads.

I totally agree though, however strong the company pushes a guy, if he can't carry a drama then he better be supporting cast. Like, if Ryo can only get into gritty dramas like Joker by being a supporting cast, I'm all for it.

THIS. I don't mind Kame playing a minor role ^^ Or maybe as antagonist! (OMG. I want to see him as serial killer or psychopath!) I'm all for it. But, like niwiwin said, being the 'face' always land him a main role. Even when they call him rating killer and such ;__; He's a good actor, but the roles he keeps on getting is... normal and boring, I must say.

LOL! But just the dramas of Kame and Kimura are the ones mentioned for the bad ratings. XDDD I'm not saying that's justified, or that this means that they aren't good... Well, Kame's good. But really, Kimura totally can't act. XD I haven't once seen him being good in a role, drama or movie, and I honestly don't understand why he still gets hired. If we're talking about letting only good actors appear, he would be in the top region of people who had to go.
