Ouch, that's harsh. Poor Acchan. Really though, if they cast her "just because of the label 'former AKB48 center'", supposedly in the hopes of getting good ratings, it doesn't sound like those casting people belong at a non-commercial TV channel to begin with.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. I personally don't think she is a good actress. So really the only "draw" for using her would be that she used to be AKB.

I generally think it's not good to cast people just because of their name or their lable because this often does not mean that they are also good actors and actresses. I don't think that Maeda Atsuko is such a great actor so I don't follow her much (and I didn't watch the period dorama since this is a genre I don't follow recently (because there are so many other shows to follow)) but I have nothing againgst her. I feel sorry for her if she hears comments like being only casted for her name... or to hear "we should have chosen xy" - because I think she herself knows that she's not the best but is surely working hard. If people who create the show etc. think that they should have chosen another actress, they should have thought so before casting her. It's disrespectful to blame it on her even if they themselves did make the "wrong" decision. I don't know if my comment makes any sense right now since I'm quite too tired already. I'm not a fan of Maeda and not of AKB or whatever has to do with it. But I'm a fan of Japanese doramas and I
