that's what i thought! i was asking my friend earlier if it's gonna be the same as the american version. i actually haven't seen the american version, so i dunno...

Well to be honest the American version is basically a remake of the 1992 American film Single White Female, so I don't really know if the Japanese one is going to have the same plot since the article says it's based on a Japanese author's work. But the description sounds too similar to be coincidence.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. When I read the description (actually from the title even), I thought it was gonna be a Japanese version of the same movie, but the Japanese author part got me a bit confused.
