There's no way 1D is outselling any Japanese idol group in Japan... maybe some Korean ones in Japan. Japan is just too Japan-focused.
I think the hatred (at least mine) lies in their smug little faces. They just remind me of five popular, douchey guys at some high school. I want my idol groups to work for my attention - costumes, dances, etc. Five guys just standing there with normal clothes and haircuts and getting attention for it is really annoying. They're missing that ganbaru spirit that so many Japanese idol groups have.
I mean, they have Japanese fans, who obviously have access to groups that do the whole flashy costumes and dances, both Japanese and Korean, and yet, they like 1D. It's like girls who prefer EXILE and their sibling groups, or Korean groups, over JE.
That's just what they like.
I don't know, I just ignore 1D because they are so far off from what I like (and way too young), that I just glaze over them.
Unless you want to talk about their lyrics, which even then, isn't their fault, but OH LORD. Then I will gladly go to town over that mess. The first time I heard "What Makes You Beautiful" in full (and not in the background of a TV show), I was agog.
