Kazuya Kamenashi, Anne, and Fuku Suzuki will be coming to movie theatres powered up with more CG effects and action sequences, reports TheTV on June 14.
The three will be reprising their roles from the 2011 monster drama series “妖怪人間ベム (Yokai Ningen Bem)” in a story especially written for the big screen.
The drama series ended with Bem (Kamenashi), Bera (Anne), and Bero (Suzuki) choosing to protect the human race rather than become human, and then disappearing from their friend detective Natsume.
The movie will start with Bem, Bera, and Bero coming to a new town. The town, however, has been troubled with a string of mysterious, unsolved cases. Then, Bero falls in love with a girl he meets. As Bero’s desire to become human grows, Bem and Bera find a way to become human, but struggle to decide whether it would be best to let just Bero become human, or whether they should become human with him. The three also discover that the mysterious cases had been caused by another yokai. Not just any yokai either, one more powerful than Bem and his friends have ever encountered.
The battle scenes will be bigger than they were during the drama, and more special effects makeup and CGs will be used in the upcoming movie.
On the Yokai Bem website, all three cast members have released their comments.
“Oha-yokai! I’m so excited! I really wanted to know what they (Bem, Bero, and Bero) were doing now so I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited to be able to see Bera and Bero again, and to be able to play Bem. I want to be a yokai-ningen now!” (Kazuya Kamenashi)
“I’m so excited to hear it’ll become a movie! I hope to be able to play an even more action-packed Bera on the big screen. I want to be a yokai now!” (Anne)
“I’m so excited to hear my favourite Yokai Ningen Bem will become a movie. I’m looking forward to shooting with my favourite Kamenashi-san and Anne-san. I love action sequences so I hope I get my own fight scene. I’ll do my best to put myself in my acting! Shooting will be over the hot summer season, but as a yokai ningen I promise to do my best not to sweat too much or get bitten by insects, and make the best yokai ningen team ever.” (Fuku Suzuki)
The movie will be released on December 15, 2012, in more than 300 movie theatres.
