Actually, she's been steadily picking up since then. Slowly, but surely. She hasn't exploded onto the scene after she left H!P, but Avex has been trying to let people forget her idol past and see her as a more serious artist.

what kinda schtick is she going/sticking with nowadays? Soulful, jazzy, upbeat, or is her style still pretty scattered to show her ~range?

I prefer to use "varied" than "scattered", but then again, I'm biased as a fan :) She's been experimenting a little with other genres ever since she got into Avex, but she's actually still been sticking with pop the most. It's more like pop with a little something else mixed in each time, so she has some pop-ballads, pop-rock songs, pop-jazz, etc.

That's why I don't understand all the "she's so all over the place" comments, because...she's not. She's still primarily a pop artist, she just experiments for fresh takes and directions and to see what her newer and older fans will respond best to.
