i've been watching some kpop vs jpop vs cpop videos in youtube...

of course i know kpop and cpop are good too, and they all have their weakness and strengths,
but since this community is called arama_cafe, i'll assume most of you are into jpop ( Read more... )

I think I just got into Jpop because when I was younger I was really into Japanese anime and manga and that led to me getting into dramas. Plus my best friend is Japanese so I go to Japan alot with her and started learning Japanese. I think I never really got into Kpop or Cpop just because like I said I'm more familiar with the Japanese language and culture so though I might like some Korean musicians I would never be as into them as I am Japanese artists (such as watching them in variety shows or concert dvds).

This seems like a really simple and boring reason - but I don't think one is better then the other it's just a preference really (plus Arashi makes rainbows, how was I supposed to resist the sparkles?)

i like jpop because the melody is much better than most kpop songs i've heard. it's not that western compared to kpop. also the words are much easier to pronounce/understand than kpop or cpop songs.

plus the johnny's are so hard to resist. :)

Because shit like Namie Amuro, Shiina Ringo and Utada Hikaru is good enough to blare out of car speakers regardless of the language.

And good enough to convince all of my friends that Japanese pop isn't all bubblegum-pop-fairy trash like Morning Musume and AKB48. Take no offense Momusu/AKB fans, my last.fm stats reveal I'm just as guilty of liking them as you.

as much as i love jpop, sometimes i can get tired of their too cutesy acts...
but i guess it's all part of their cultures...

Honestly. Japanese Music will always reign supreme in my heart even if I do end up with more Korean music in my iTunes. XD It's something I discovered at a young age, and it's something that I'm behind 100% Yeah sure my tastes come and go and some days I'm just not into listening to anything Japanese, but I always come back to it at the end of the day. It will always make me happy.

In b4 shitstorm. I hate Johnny's. I think they are nothing but a group of vapid talentless cunts. Now with that being said. No, I do not listen to them. Have I? Yes. I've tried out a lot of their music; it still all sucks to me. It sounds the same.

Now I don't really listen to many Korean boybands, but I can say with a degree of confidence that Korean boybands are better than their Japanese counterparts. They have talent. :3 There I'm done. *comes back to center*

Korean boys are better dancers, probably better singers, and still need more practice in singing live. I am pretty neutral in this :p

I agree with this, actually. Japanese music as a whole is way better than Korean music, imho, but if we keep in mind only the boybands, Korea wins by far.
