Finally made it to the end, and wow, what a finale! Emotional, touches of humour, and a hopeful ending despite John's death.

Like you say, it's hard to see a character you love go, and yet it made total sense and is so what John would do. So sad, and yet so right for the characters and where the show seemed to be going.

Now maybe Harold can have a good life with Grace (assuming he can explain things to her adequately), and Shaw will be busy saving numbers (possibly with Fusco's help, possibly not), and Root will live on in a way via The Machine. Even Bear gets a happy ending (he loves Shaw, I seem to remember from the previous seasons).

Of course, what's the betting there will be fics that say the last few episodes were merely simulations? I can see some fans jumping onto that, to keep John and Root alive (Elias too)!! But yeah, I don't want to read fix-it fics for this. It felt like the right ending, no matter how sad.

Hmmm actually fandom rarely go the "it's all a sim" route. But there's for sure enough uncertainties about John's fate that they're all very busy rescuing him from his rooftop. ;)

And I kinda like that there's still some doubts. The Man in the Suit is a legend, a ghost. He's immortal. And numbers will continue to be saved (either by him if you want to believe he survived, or by the other teams), and his legend will never die...
