One thing that really irks me is people misusing you're and your.

I went to go sign up for toilet paper on my RA's door, and someone had written on her dry-erase board, "Aimee - hope your rockin' out at Mardi Gras!"
I drew a huge arrow from "your" and wrote in very large, angry, capital letters: YOU'RE and drew arrows pointing to the apostrophe. ( Read more... )

i know all too well about the your and you're thing. copy editing has brought me to the brink of homicide. most common offense: apostrophe abuse. blah.

OH MY GOD. My mom does that ALL THE TIME and it drives me NUTS! Then she gets pissed when I point it out everytime, and I'm like "..but it's wrong."

There's a book called "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" by Lynn Truss that you totally need to read.
