At last, here I am with part 2 of this section of my final Vampire Diaries series. Here is the last batch of my favorite scenes or moments. As in the ones from seasons 01-04, some of these may surprise you and some scenes/moments *not* on here will likely be surprising as well. I was trying to edit the comment just now, but it wouldn't let me. I think the formatting may be messed up in your post. *shrug* And isn't that episode 6x22, not 5x22?

Anyway, it's a good list, but I still don't like that 7x17 scene. I'm not down for that stuff, not even in hindsight.

Once I responded you can't edit. Yup, it's 6.22, I had the ep number wrong too. I had it as 5.04 and that is what I had fixed, so my total bad. Now it's really fixed.

I knew you wouldn't like it, LOL! Any of that type of stuff was just never going to work for you. For me, my love for the brothers stuff (and, of course, I love Stefan so, so much too, while I know you don't) overrides even my Damon love sometimes. This was one of those times. Of course, it helps that for me 7.17 is one of the episodes that is just pretty much sheer perfection in my eyes.

That's what I meant about that scene. You can really take apart every single moment, every character beat, every line of dialogue and it's all so perfect. Every thing works so well for every character, and every character relationship.

It really was great and very fitting. What I also loved about that moment was that while it *was* so perfect and just, it was also kind of wrong, because that’s not how Elena would *want* to react to the situation, which was one of the elements setting the stage for “we’re doing bad things for each other” drama that came later. That's a really good point. We both know how good this show was at setting up threads that played off later. The only thing that I can't see with this is that Alaric, Bonnie, Liz, Jeremy, *and* Matt all did and acted in similar ways, having learned similarly from

“She was looking at reality and facing it head on, whether it was the good or the right or the "friend" thing to say. And she did that here again to Elena.” - That’s a good parallel to point out. You’re right.

Frankly, this would be why I never understood people suddenly loving Caroline when she became a vampire when they'd bitched about her before, because I saw that awesome character in season 01 when she was human. :shrugs:

(To be honest, a lot of S6 is a bit of a blur to me, because I was upset about a number of things. Now, however, that I’m over most or even all of them, I’m really looking forward to rewatching the season with a different mindset.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on season 06 (especially the last quarter)!

I think it was a lovely juxtaposition, among other things, having Stefan (and Caroline) intercutting Damon and Elena’s scene talking about the positive, beautiful things instead of the sire bond. I consider that a valid attempt at symbolically fixing those 4x07/4x08 comments lolI never thought of it as "

“Oh, the love that Stefan feels for his brother because he wanted Damon to save him from the mark and he wanted Damon to save him from the situation he was in now.” - First of all, Stefan’s attitude bothered me only upon the first viewing. I re-watched the episode twice already, and somehow I didn’t find his words as unfairly glaring as the first time around, mainly because of the reasons wonderfully described by you. In addition to that, I realized something I didn’t think of before. Namely that due to the extreme pain (both emotional and physical) that Stefan was in, he was putting into words, with no filter, probably one of the most common subconscious thought processes that we all experience: he expected someone he loves most in this world to be willing to save him at all cost including that person’s own life.

As I was reading this response from you, I was saying aloud to myself: "Yes, yes, yes! It was all about Stefan's love for Damon. ALL OF IT. Every word. Yes, yes, yes!"
