Yes, like you said, I wasn't impressed at all by that episode: - Rebekah/Marcel have no chemistry, that kissing scene was supposed to be hot I guess but it did nothing to me. - Elijah/Hayley may have chemistry but I can't imagine them in a relationship. I'm just, argh I don't want to see this... - Honestly, I don't care about Hayley. I wish she could give birth already and disappear.
Then, like you said, I quite liked Cami in this episode, the way she challenged Klaus. I look forward to that. I also liked Davina, she's very powerful and it's only the beginning.
They just have no chemistry at all, really they don't.
I want to care about Hayley, and I would, but I just wish she was played by a different actress. One who could act. *sigh*
I was very surprised by how much I liked Cami in this episode since I've been so meh about the actress, but something just clicked in this one and they're writing her story right. It's moving at the perfect pace and I love how they are handling the compulsion angle with Klaus.
I like Davina too. But again, sooo predictable her story in this episode.
I was so glad when she turned on her heels and left (and then he grabbed her and they kissed and I went "Nooooooo! Dammit!")
Oh, as soon as she turned away I knew he was gonna pull her back and I rolled my eyes. Again, SO PREDICTABLE! Ugh.
When she told Elijah that she would leave I actually had a second of hope they would swap Tyler for Rebekah on TVD.
Hah, I wish!
I liked Elijah in the pool. I think he is surprised at what he feels and I liked watching all these emotions crossing his face. And maybe this Hayley/Elijah thing works for those who haven't seen TVD and don't know about Katherine? But for us who know the backstory, agreed, it is more than weird.Yes... and now, I think it's moving too fast. It was fine with the flirty looks and stuff last week, but it's kinda moving too fast now. It was so cliched and OH, LET'S RANDOMLY COME UP WITH A WAY TO GET THEM WET AND IN EACH OTHER'S ARMS!!! so many people on my f list found this episode problematic. I only read the recaps I haven't watched TVD in a year, and The Originals, not even five seconds of it. I just can't be bothered
I didn't expect to get into any ships, but I also didn't expect them to completely ignore the ships they'd created on TVD also.
To be fair, I think in order to set up this entire new story the writers kind of *had to* trample over TVD-based ships.
I don't agree with this. That smacks of lazy writing. Considering the kind of characters that both Katherine and Rebekah *and* Klaus are, it is PERFECTLY easy to make them do something irreparable to Elijah, Matt and Caroline to end those relationships in such a way that they could set them on new paths. Or knowing what was coming with TO, why even go there with Katherine and Elijah honestly? Why give us just that tease only to spit in its face? Why not have Matt and Rebekah fall apart over the summer? Have Matt come back done with Rebekah instead of that adorable scene with them in the premiere episode? So, nope, trampling so not necessary. AT ALL.
And Klaus' interest in Cami just feels... superfluousThe Klaus/Cami relationship is the one I'm fine with because it doesn't feel

Yeah, I found Phoebe pretty painful to watch in this episode. It's too bad, because I like what they've been doing with Haley's character.
