Since everything was pre-empted tonight, I watched Idol.
I liked Casey too but I don't know how I would have felt about him had it been the first time I'd seen him. He was aggressive but I love his song choice and I love that he honored the Screaming Jay rendition.
I preferred the second half of guys more than the first group. Paul is quirky and even though I didn't like the song, I like his style.
Jacob has a great gospel thing going for him and even though I don't think he'll win, I enjoyed what he put out tonight.
My favorite of the night has to be Scotty, though. That's pure old school country. It's pretty much the only kind of country I can stand. I'm not a fan of much of the new pop country stuff that has been released recently. Anyway, it was such a throwback that I found it refreshing. He felt authentic and it's a good season for him since I doubt he'd be able to cover the genres like had been required in seasons past.
I think she won over some people seeing him for the first too (see butterfly. He was fantastic.
I don't know what it is, but Paul's voice bugs me. Ah well. I can tell he's good, but I just don't like his tone. Jacob just doesn't do it for me, I'm not fond of his version of gospel singing.
Scotty was FANTASTIC. So, so good!
I think (hope, since I love them when they are actual REAL themes, and not specific artists) they are still doing themes, just not specific artists.
I loved Scotty McCreery. LOVED. I could listen to him alllll daaaay. :D His voice is a tall glass of lemonade on a hot day [/Paula] Casey was fabulous, as well -- that was like...controlled chaos throughout (and that ending? I got chills. ;)
Being honest, though, were he not my favorite going into this, I'm not sure I'd have him this high.I really like him, but this song...did nothing for me. I didn't understand why he chose it, I don't think it showcased his voice or really the kind of artist he wants to be. I mean...I don't believe that kid wants to be Jim Morrison. I just don't. ;p

Hah! Yeah, Brett, don't know what you were thinking, but I still love him. Hopefully, he makes it through and gets a chance to show off what he really can do.
I really thought Jovanny sang that song well -- I was kind of amazed at the "meh" it got. Sure, the song is played out, but no more than "Superstition."
I know right? We may be the only two though. :(
It will be very interesting to see if "America" listens to Randy like they listened to Simon
I agree; I'm curious to see if we'll see that play out. Hmmm...
Casey, Scotty, Brett, and James are my favorites. I really love their voices, but especially Casey's well worn, broken in, sort of old and used voice. I love that quality in a man's voice. I haven't had a chance to watch the girls yet.

We also agree on Scotty - I'm not a big country person, but he just owned it up there and was great.
