Day 13 - Your favorite funny scene
Damon/Alaric and Damon/Elena - Who killed who? and Puppies (Season 01, Episode 20, "Blood Brothers")
I originally grabbed this scene because of the "You tried to kill me/Yeah, well, you did kill me" Damon/Alaric exchange, but then realized this is funny scene, not just funny exchange and thought I'd have to figure out something else. Which, again, not very easy with this show because despite numerous funny quips (courtesy mostly of -- thank you -- Damon), there aren't really very many full on funny scenes. However, I decided to watch the the whole thing and minus the end part with John -- which plays more like a new scene because it's not connected to the phone call with Damon -- there are a lot of funny, heehee! moments to be found here, so I thought: Yup, this one works!
First we have the first lines that establish that lovely, teasingly insulting banter between Damon and Alaric --
Damon: Hello?
Alaric: Hey, it's Alaric Saltzman.
Damon: Before I hang up, how did you get this number?
Alaric: It's a mystery
This was then followed by blah, blah, plot stuffies before we get to my favorite part:
Then we got some more funnies when Damon got another call (from Elena!). I always get a little laugh out of how Damon pulls the phone away to check the caller ID, and then says "Hold on" into the phone without putting it back to his ear, followed by his flat, mock-annoyed "What?" which is very amusing knowing that he knows it's Elena since he checked out the caller ID. Hee! And that phone conversation begins with a typical Damon one-liner ...
Elena: How's Stefan?
Damon: Exra broody.
before we get to the second best part of the scene:
Elena: What's his favorite kind of ...
Damon: Favorite kind of what?
Elena: Type of animal blood that he prefers?
Damon: Eeew, gross.
And then after some more exposition, the kicker --
Damon: Stefan likes puppy blood. Little golden retriever puppies with cute, floppy ears. That's his favorite.
Oh, Damon. Hah! Yeah, this scene cracks me up.
