I can't say anything to your TBBT post except: "IA."

I adored the episode; the L/P was icky but not unbearable (actually, the Penny-with-lingerie scene was a little unbearable, but still, that's not that bad) but I actually enjoyed every single character. Yes, some more than others, especially with Leonard's over-the-top rant that he could have toned down to make me buy it, but I say it was a win! Fun, funny. My only gripe is I really wish Penny had more to do, but I won't complain right now.

And then Barney gives the super-date to Robin and Don -- a guy she deserves. What. the. Fuck. Ever. Show? DIE IN A FIRE!

That wasn't even the worst part, for me. What drove me up the wall is Jennifer Lopez's character, who was only doing this as a favor to Robin, all of a sudden wanted Barney?! Just because he said no?! That made NO sense at. all. They needed a (dumb) reason to have Barney throw himself in the water, so they had J-Lo's previously unflappable woman (who I really liked) become another drooling Barney fangirl. That was HORRID.

(The show seems to forget, or WANTS to forget that we barely saw Robin's POV on that 'ship, only Barney's. Which is why I really don't buy Robin would be mourning it, because I never saw that angsty pining on her end. But forget characterization, it's more hi-lar-ious if Barney bounces right back and Robin's the one who's upset. Can't give Barney any depth or dimension -- oh, except when the show did and then took it back 'cause NPH would rather play Barney as a ladies' man or whatevah ( ... )

I agree with you re: HIMYM, but ...

'cause NPH would rather play Barney as a ladies' man or whatevah

I've NEVER read this anywhere. Any comment about it, seems to be along the lines of the producers thinking the audience prefers that. NPH has always been very, very pro-BrOtp.

And, of course, Sheldon won the ring.

Ooh, OK -- that's very refreshing. :) I think it was that EW interview that got things mixed up in my head (that, and the baby with the 101 fever :( )

Wow, so the actors like the storyline, but not doing it is fanservice? What-the-heck-evah, HIMYM. :x

Everything I've read about HIMYM since I stopped watching it makes me happy I did stop watching. I feel sad that a show I adored last year has come to this but I'm happy I'm not watching it.

I'm just not ready to give it up, but it really does suck. You're NOT missing out.

Ted's date song cracked me up. While I liked that HIMYM finally acknowledged that the way the Barney/Robin thing ended was LAME, I wasn't quite sure about their methods of acknowledgement. And I hate Don. But it seemed to be able to find the tone that I've felt the show has been missing this season and is only starting to find again.

And as always, totally agree with your TBBT comments.
